As someone who is not very familiar with Magic: The Gathering, I remain fascinated by the constant cross-flow of card games. They range from the simple to the unexpected and fun, e.g. Lord of the Ringss, evil Dead, Hatsune Mikuand street fighter All elegance MTG. Still, with so many crossovers out there, I don’t think anyone could have predicted the latest: Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Kotaku hopes for Spyro’s return (reportedly)
A crossover with a classic 1975 british comedy According to reports, the movie IGN, will be released on July 29th as two Secret Lair drops, totaling nine cards. As you’d expect, these nine cards are filled with incredible art and love for the film’s many quotable lines and beloved characters. Each card is essentially a specially designed version of an existing card MTG. For example, the “Tis But a Scratch” card depicts the movie’s black knight Cutting off his arms was a substitute for dismemberment. How apt.
In my opinion, the best card in the collaboration is “Swallow,” which plays into a running gag in the movie in which the characters argue about the airspeed difference between African and European swallows. The card is double-sided, one African and one European, so you can decide which species you prefer to play. Ultimately though, the European Swallow Card and the African Swallow Card work in the same way.
same as the rest MTGThe partnership brings characters from movies, TV and video games into card games. holy grail Cards are part of the Beyond the Line universe. This just means that cross cards are not legal for use in the standard MTG matches. I can only imagine it would be better because if I was playing Magic: The Gathering games and someone started playing these holy grail card, I would fall down a rabbit hole of movie references, disturbing everyone around me.
If you happen to be attending San Diego Comic-Con from July 25-28, the Hasbro Pulse booth will have a foil version Monty Python and the Holy Grail Cross down.
