M. Night Shyamalanrecent movies trap It performed poorly and was roundly slammed by critics. The movie isn’t great, it’s just another addition to Shyamalan’s inconsistent filmography resume.
Ever since sixth senseShyamalan’s films are hit or miss. Some of them are great, some of them are downright terrible.
In a recent interview with Total Film, Shyamalan recalled his relationship with bruce willythe actor initially reacted coldly to a note from the young director.
As Shyamalan shared: “There was a little tense moment in the last thing we shot on Friday, [Bruce] I made a line and I made a note. You never know when that moment will happen, when your career will be made or broken, when you will become the person you will become.
“I was, like, 26 or 27 years old. He looked at me grimly: ‘I think we did it.’ I walked up to him. He was ice. I whispered this into his ear. I said , “I want you der-der-der-der”.
“He looked at me and I quickly said, ‘Okay, rolling sound. Here it goes!’ I wasn’t even talking to him.
Shyamalan went on to explain how Willis went ahead and “nailed” the scene, before calling the filmmaker over to his trailer to talk to him.
As you might imagine, Shyamalan was very nervous because he thought Willis might lash out at him in some way. However, this is not the case. Instead, Willis continued to pair the director with quentin tarantino.
“I went up and knocked on the door, and it opened,” Shyamalan recalled. “I said, ‘Hey, do you want to say something?’ And he said, ‘I’ve only experienced this once before.’ ”
“‘I feel it pulp FictionI just feel it now. And he said, “You did it, kid.” So I said, “Oh, thank you!” He closed the door and I jumped down the sidewalk.
“But that’s the kind of guy he is. He’s going to test you and basically ask, ‘Do you believe in yourself? Because I don’t think you will. If it works, it works. If it doesn’t work, you’re dead.’ The result.” Success!
Shyamalan definitely had it at the time, but he’s since lost it, and he’s nowhere near as talented as Tarantino.
I remember the first time I saw sixth sense I think Shyamalan is going to be the next Spielberg. But boy oh boy was I wrong. I think he has potential, but his journey has taken him in a different direction.
