Looking for a game that will make you feel really old? The OG Karate Kid movie is getting a side-scrolling fighting game later this year

If you’re looking for a (very) heavy dose of nostalgia, newly released side-scrolling beat ’em up game The Karate Kid: Street Fight That should solve the problem.

Are there any classic movies from the 80s? Need to make a video game based on it but don’t want to push the boat out in terms of imagination? How about a fighting game? That’s exactly what GameMill Entertainment has announced with The Karate Kid: Street Blast, a new 16-bit style (keyword designed here) game that transforms the ’80s classic into the era common game types. According to IGN, the game will let you play as Daniel Russo, Mr. Miyagi, Kumiko, or Ali Mills, and you’ll be able to fight against the series’ villains, including Johnny Lawrence, John Kreese, Terry Silver, and others. It’s specifically mentioned that it’s also set in the 1980s, but that seems a bit moot considering everything about the game.

The game is clearly modeled after more modern beat ’em ups, such as 2022’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, and received generally positive reviews. You can check out the trailer for Street Rumble above, and it looks like a standard beat ’em up action game. Maybe the full game will offer more content, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to do that much besides colorful sprites.

It won’t be long before you can play it yourself, though, as it’s set to release in a few months on September 20th. , Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC (via Steam). Judging by the list of bad guys listed, it will cover at least the first three movies, so if you want to re-experience these movies or even experience them for the first time (weird way), you’ll be sorted there too.
