This move shouldn’t surprise anyone, Bluey BBC Studios and Disney have announced a feature film. That’s right, everyone’s favorite Aussie canine beloved by children and adults alike is coming to the big screen in 2017.

BBC Studios and The Walt Disney Company today announced the first animated feature film, Bluey , the beloved Emmy and BAFTA award-winning animated series and the number one streaming series of 2024 . Under the new agreement, Disney has obtained the global theatrical rights to the film, which will be released in theaters under Disney in 2027. After its global theatrical release, the film will be available to stream on Disney+.
The film is written and directed by “Bluey” creator Joe Brumm and produced by Ludo Studio in partnership with BBC Studios. The film will continue the charm and humor that made the TV series popular around the world and continue the adventures of Bluey, an adorable, tireless blue heeler who lives with her mom, dad and sister Bingo.

The film will star vocal stars from the hit show, including Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack as Bluey’s parents, Chili and Bandit Shearer, and Bluey composer Joe Music composed by Jeff Bush.
The CG-animated film will be produced by award-winning animator Amber Naismith (Happy Feet, The LEGO Movie, The LEGO Batman Movie), with Richard Jeffrey returning to co-direct (Happy Feet, The LEGO Movie, The LEGO Batman Movie). Disney will release the “Bluey” movie in theaters worldwide and then stream it on Disney+. After the film is released, it will also be broadcast on ABC iView and ABC Kids channels in Australia.
“Bluey,” airing in more than 140 countries, is the most-watched series globally on Disney+ in 2024 and the No. 1 most-watched streaming series this year among total U.S. viewers through November, with more than 50.5 billion minutes (842 million hours).
