9-1-1: Lone Star is about to return for its fifth season.
While many fans may be saddened by the news, there have been signs pointing to this for some time. Rumors about the show’s end began circulating in June, shortly after original cast member Sierra McClain announced she would not be returning as a series regular. Additionally, several cast members shared cryptic and emotional messages on social media at the end of filming for Season 5, hinting that they were not expected to return for Season 6.
“Fans have been connected to the powerful and heroic story of Austin 126 from the beginning,” Fox president Michael Thorn said in a statement released Thursday. “A huge thank you to Ryan Murphy. , Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear have created one of the most exciting shows on television, and as we head into its final season, we’re ready for a cast that includes Rob Lowe and Gina Torres. Led by an incredible cast, it delivers the intense, high-stakes action and emotional moments the show is known for.”
According to Deadline, unlike the original 9-1-1 series, Lone Star is not expected to transition to ABC after it airs on Fox. However, there are rumors that there could be a spin-off series set in the 9-1-1 universe, with Las Vegas being mentioned as a possible new setting.
