Logitech isn’t discontinuing its Circle View Doorbell

The Circle View series are two of the few security cameras compatible with Apple’s HomeKit security video service. If they leave, it will be a slim choice for smart home users who prefer the security and privacy features of Apple’s video service.

Logitech’s new CEO Hanneke Faber was interviewed marginal Editor-in-Chief Nilay Patel is on his Decoder podcast this week. She told him that the company, known for its huge product category (RIP Harmony), is now focused on three areas: personal workspaces, video conferencing, and gaming.

In response to a question about smart home doorbells, she said, “I think these have pretty much disappeared. … I’d have to double check, but I’m not even sure if these are still for sale. You can see this on TikTok Communication video.

We double-checked her, and Logitech’s head of global communications Wendy Spander clarified to us, “Circle View products are still in production and we are currently selling them (as are our retail partners). They are not discontinued. They are in stock and Ready to ship. Both are available on the Logitech website, confirming her claim.

The Logitech Circle View camera is over four years old.

Considering Logitech launched its last smart home product (the Circle View Doorbell) more than three years ago, it’s clear the new CEO doesn’t see smart home devices as a big part of the company’s business — don’t hold your breath for a new model.

The good news is that Faber told Patel that Logitech will continue to support all of its products for some time. This could include the Circle camera line, which was discontinued a few years ago, as well as the Circle View products, which are still on sale. The latter also only works through the Apple Home app. So you don’t even have to rely on Logitech to maintain separate apps to continue using them.
