Iconic entertainer Liza Minnelli has signed a deal with longtime friend and collaborator Michael Feinstein to write a memoir.
Grand Central Publishing has unveiled its book deal with Minnelli, announcing hardcover print, e-book and audio editions will be published in spring 2026. an american in paris Director Vincent Minnelli, winner of an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Award, apparently finally decided to put pen to paper and write his own story.
“‘I’ll tell you when I’m gone!’ is my philosophy. So why should I change my mind? In front of billions of people, at the Oscars, ruined…a twist on half-truths Movies…a recent miniseries that didn’t quite get it right. It was all made by people who didn’t know my family and didn’t really know me. I ended up getting so pissed off that I decided this over dinner one night. It’s my own story…and I’m sharing it with you because of all the love you’ve given me,” Minnelli said in a statement filled with signature superlatives.
She turned to Feinstein for help writing her memoir. “We’ve been connected for 40 years. As an ambassador for the Great American Songbook and my favorite collaborator, Michael is one of the greats, he’s razor-sharp, and he tells the truth,” Minnelli said in added of working with her old friend on the project.
She achieved breakthrough success in singing and dancing and Lisa and Z. Along the way, she went through many marriages and battled substance abuse, and what promises to be an intimate and raw book about a trophy-laden and tragic career in Hollywood.
“Lisa’s story has been told from the moment she was born. After many dazzling triumphs and some terrifying lows, she is now finally ready to tell it all herself. Grand Central couldn’t be happier to help bring this book to the world,” Grand Central senior vice president and editor-in-chief Colin Dickerman said in a statement.
The publisher acquired North American rights to Minnelli’s memoir from William Morris Endeavor, which also handles international rights sales.
