Ahead of this week’s New York Comic Con, Dynamite Comics has announced details about the third phase of its ThunderCats title Declan Shalvey and Drew Moss That will see a confrontation with the franchise’s ultimate big bad, Mumm-Ra!

The first storyline in the new comic series focuses on origin stories and introducing fans to these beloved characters and their core mythology. After escaping the tragic fate of his hometown Sandra, Thundercat landed on Third Earth. New characters like Kalika are introduced, as well as the return of classic elements like Snarf and the Thunder Tank.
Then in Phase Two, each chapter cleverly highlights the core cast’s characters and sets up an epic showdown between the Thundercats and the mutants. Fans will also get a preview and introduction to the mysterious character Apex, who will be key to the upcoming storyline. In between storylines, guest creators like Stephen Mooney and Joe Mulvey have added stand-alone chapters that cover unexplored corners of the lore, giving readers new perspectives and styles.
Thundercat #11 celebrates nearly a full year of this epic storytelling era, and the beginning of the third major cycle of Declan Shalvey and Drew Moss’ new epic. After trying to stay silent about their unsanctioned exploration in previous chapters, the young duo of WilyKat and WilyKit finally reveal their discovery of the Black Pyramid of Mamra to the rest of the team. After learning the secrets found within the Obsidian Walls, Lion-O makes a fateful decision.
Lion-O will venture out alone to explore the heart of Mumm-Ra’s lair. He will face off against their deadliest foe in a single battle. If he can defeat the Demon Priest, the ThunderCats will firmly claim their new home on Earth-3. But if he fails, Sandra’s last survivor could lose everything, even her own life!

I’m having to change things at the moment because the original plan was to do a one-year reboot, but with sales so strong we’ve got at least a year left now.
