License Global, the licensing industry’s long-time trusted source of updates, has released the 2024 Top Global Licensees Report.
The new report surveys some of the largest licensors based on total retail sales of licensed consumer products last year. The report also highlights predictions of future trends in the industry.
Many companies have experienced significant growth over the past year, including Hasbro, Sanrio and NBCUniversal. The report shows that global retail sales of licensed consumer products totaled more than US$281 billion last year, an increase of more than US$3 billion compared with 2022.
The report shows that the top five global licensees in 2024, from largest to smallest, are Disney, Authentic Brands Group, Dotdash Meredith, Warner Bros. Discovery and Hasbro. Other toy industry giants also ranked lower, such as NBCUniversal/Universal Products & Experiences at No. 6, The Pokémon Co. at No. 7 and Mattel at No. 9.
An annual study conducted by every brand licensing professional, the Top Global Licensees Report provides a detailed analysis of which brands consumers are allocating their hard-earned dollars to. Companies can use this data and forecasts to stay ahead of trends to ensure planned product ranges are in line with the latest consumer preferences.
The report also examines the areas that will offer licensing opportunities in the future, based on a survey of areas consumers want to explore next year. These include apparel, food and drink, toys and games, and location-based entertainment.
