Lego’s mario Collaborations always turn out to be lively when people expect them to be lively. LEGO has spoken out since the company revealed that its first major Nintendo product line would not feature minifigures, but rather buildable platforming levels and chunky electronically enhanced versions of Mario and his friends. Everyone’s favorite game Plumber always does unexpected things. Even “traditional” Mario-themed sets involve less minifigures and playsets and more buildable, interactive display pieces. So perhaps it’s no surprise that Lego’s performance Mario Kart It’s also a bit legendary.
To celebrate Gamescom, this morning LEGO officially launched its first wave of products Mario Kart set. It was announced earlier this year that the first six sets would be released in early 2025.
Prices range from $15 to $80, and none of the sets include a traditional minifigure. On the contrary, Lego Mario Kart Scaled for larger brick-based characters, similar to non-electronic characters in other LEGO products mario set. You won’t even find Mario, Peach, or Luigi in it…unless you want baby versions of them.
Each set in the series comes with a variety of accessories, from race markers like cones to item boxes and weapons like red and green seashells or banana peels, to customize your own track, culminating in the largest set, $80 Little Peach Grand Prix, complete with starting line and course obstacles. Each set comes with a kart or bike and its respective racer, except for two: the Standard Kart Set ($20), which is inspired by Mario’s Kart Mario Kart 8 and includes a Red Toad Mechanic and Toad Garage ($40), which comes equipped with Mario’s B Dasher Mario Kart DS and two blue toad mechanics. Here’s a complete breakdown of each set and its price:
- Yoshi Bike, $15, comes with light blue Yoshi, shell, traffic cone, and item block
- Standard kart, $20, comes with red Toad mechanic, case and workstation
- Baby Mario vs. Baby Luigi, $30, comes with Baby Mario and Baby Luigi, shells and balloons
- Donkey Kong & DK Jumbo, $35, comes with Donkey Kong, shell, banana peel and target
- Toad’s Garage, $40, comes with two red Toad mechs, cases, and a complete garage, including replaceable wheels
- Peach and the Grand Prix, comes with Peach, Toad, Koopaling Lemmy, starting gate, podium and assorted accessories
Although neither the kart nor the figure has LEGO-defining electronic features Super Mario line of Mario Kart All sets are approached in a similar manner – customizable sets prioritize physical play over simple small display pieces or traditional play sets.
