The first trailer for the film was released this weekend at New York Comic Con The Karate Kid: LegendStarring Ralph Macchio, Jackie Chanand Wang Ben (American-born Chinese), playing a new student named Li Feng. Macchio returns as Daniel LaRusso, the character he played in the original “1984” karate kid film trilogy, later replayed on Netflix cobra kai series.
Jackie Chan also returns as Mr. Han, a kung fu master based on Mr. Miyagi, who served as his trainer. Jaden Smith’s Dre Parker 2010 karate kid Remake.
The trailer, shown exclusively to New York Comic Con audiences, reportedly shows off some intense karate action between the three leads.
Macchio’s Daniel LaRusso arrives in Beijing and Chan’s Mr. Han has been looking for him. Han explains that Han has a new protégé, Li Feng, who is his mentor, just like Mr. Miyagi was to Daniel.
He and Daniel narrate in the trailer, and it’s clear the two must team up to train Li Feng, but will their teaching styles match?
The trailer shows off plenty of fight scenes in the streets and dojos, including some of the briefly teased new karate tournaments. In one particularly impressive moment, Li Feng fights off an alley bully by swinging off a fire escape and flipping off a wall.
as a star American-born ChineseWang has some stunt experience, which is reflected in the trailer.
After Jackie and Macchio announced a global search for thousands of young actors, Wang was chosen for the role due to his strong performance and deep connection with the character.
Wang is proficient in several martial arts, including Karate, Wing Chun/Kung Fu, Kung Fu Do, Kwon Do and Taekwondo.
Ming-Na Wenfamous for Mulan and The Joy Luck Clubwill portray the role of Mother Wang. joshua jackson and Sadie Stanley will also appear in the film.
