Fans were understandably upset when the decision was made to end Power Book II: Ghosts.
The Thrones spin-off seems to be having its moment, and in some ways is even more popular than the original.
I mean, they did the impossible: they got us to root for Tariq.
So why end now? More importantly, how are you going to bring a satisfying ending to the fans who have been following this universe for the past decade?
We’ll find out on September 6, 2024, when the show reaches its historic final five episodes. Now that we’re a month away, it’s time to start thinking seriously about how this journey will end.

And it has the potential to get messy. And it’s not the messy kind.
I have always been an ardent supporter of all things power and always will be.
It’s that show when it wants to be.
There are very few shows of an hour or so that can keep you hooked from start to finish. You’ll laugh, cringe, boo, and everything else during an episode of Ghost, The Force, or Rasing Kanan.
Particularly with The Last Day, when the Joe and 50 Cent theme song comes on, you know you’re about to enter a messy, unexpectedly funny, complex story about family, crime, and the struggles we have to protect those we own. Things that loved ones do.
Also, that song overall is a slap in the face. You hear it and you automatically get excited.
“Power” was originally the story of James “Ghost” St. Patrick. While Power Ghost tells Tarik’s story, Ghost’s presence has been lingering in the background, and it feels like in the final hours, he’ll play a more important role than ever before.
I don’t know how to feel about this.
On the one hand, Tariq has to face his feelings for his father, and rightfully so. He killed the man, and he spent four seasons running away from that fact and any comparisons to him.
However, he is becoming everything his father warned him about, and it’s time for him to finally realize who he is and who he is at his core.

I’m ready for the show to delve into this, as they briefly mentioned in Tariq’s acid trip in Book of Power II: Ghosts Season 4 Episode 5, but I’m also not sure they can No really sums up everything the relationship was and is in the short time they’ve been gone.
Not to mention 75 other unresolved plot lines.
One of my biggest criticisms of this season is that there’s just too much going on. This isn’t a new phenomenon, but in the past you could get away with it because you couldn’t see an end date.
Now, there is one. These stories need to wrap up at the end, and they have a lot to cover.
Fans were rightfully upset about the midseason finale, as it wasn’t what we expected from the series. We’re used to shocking and crazy reveals, but instead of anything big happening, they walk away sad.
I’m all for Tarik doing what he thinks he needs to do and potentially walking out in glory, but it’s a problem when the midseason finale drops and everyone forgets about it 24 hours later.
There’s plenty of time to rectify this when the series returns, but there are a lot of moving parts now and time is limited.
We need Tariq to seek revenge, finally understand that he is his father’s son, and make good on his promise to protect the family he left behind.
We need Brayden to decide who he wants to be independent of Tariq and the Weston family.
We need Monet to decide what’s more important to her: business or her family.
We need the children of Tejada to forge their own path.

We need this show to remember Davis.
It’s just storylines about people we actually care about. Norma and her daughter are still out there, as is Paz and the crooked cops.
In my perfect world, Norma would be captured instantly and all other subplots could disappear and that’s all I care about right now. Things end with a final showdown between Tariq, Brayden and the Tejada family.
May the best criminal faction win.
Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case, but knowing that this is Thrones, and the first half focusing so little on the body count, it’s easy to assume that half of them might not even make it to the end.
What if Paz killed Tariq? Or what if Brayden killed Kane? Or what if Tasha and Moné went out to protect the kids?
My brain is on overload, you guys! There were a lot of scenes where I needed a lot of things to happen, but I wasn’t convinced they could pull it all off in a satisfying way.
I want to believe it, but I’m scared! There’s so much at stake, and the start of the season makes me feel more pessimistic than ever, even if the installments are good in the grand scheme of things.
They may have had a great track record in terms of entertainment value, but that’s no longer the case. This is it. They can’t right the wrong next season and try to fix what’s broken with a new set of episodes.
They need to hit the majors to win the World Series – it’s not even necessary – it’s a must.

However, the newly released trailer for the second half of Season 4 still looks promising. We see all the major players, guns, hospitals, and everything else that makes up a strong season.
They still have five hours to make history. Let’s see what they can do.
