The actor has inked deals with Glen Powell, Josh Brolin and Katie O’Brien (love lies bleed) exist running manParamount’s film based on Stephen King’s novel.
Edgar Wright directed the film and co-wrote the screenplay with Michael Bacall. The series is set to film in London early next year.
king’s running ManPublished in 1982 under the pen name Richard Bachman, the book takes place in the United States in 2025, where a totalitarian regime uses violent game shows to appease the disenfranchised masses.
The novel centers on a desperate man who needs money to support his sick daughter, who participates in the most popular show, running manin which a team of killers hunt down contestants. The longer contestants survive, the more money they earn. But as the game show’s producers and killers will discover, this desperate man will break all the rules and reveal the show’s dark secrets.
Powell plays the desperate man. Brolin plays the game show’s ruthless producer, while O’Brien will play one of the show’s contestants.
Pace is essentially the star of the film, playing the ruthless chief hunter on the network that airs the game show and being tasked by the producers with tracking down Powell’s character.
Paramount Pictures will release the film on November 21, 2025.
Pace played the colorful Marvel villain Ronan the Accused in the 2014 film guardian and reprized the role in 2019’s $1 billion-grossing captain marvel. The actor starred in AMC’s mid-2010s drama stop and catch fire Most recently one of the stars of Apple TV’s ambitious sci-fi series Baseabout to enter its third season.
