    Light Up Fur Festival Coats

Check out Erin St Blaine’s latest guide to adding lights to your holiday coat and controlling them with your phone. This guide will show you two different ways to add animated NeoPixel lights to your favorite furry holiday warmth. From the guide:

Hold on to your hat, because your thread is about to get a major upgrade, man. My friends, we are talking about getting LED lights for your furry coat, but not just any lights. We’re talking lights that will have you strutting like a disco diva under neon lights.

This guide will demonstrate two different methods of lighting your coat:

    1. fur decorative lamp: Strings of LED lights are embedded in the fuzzy trim that’s ubiquitous on many holiday jackets. This is a fairly simple build that doesn’t require extensive sewing or coding skills.
    2. Light matrix panel:Create a 3-panel LED matrix between the jacket fabric and lining to run a 2D animation on the jacket body. This is a more complex build that requires some jacket deconstruction and sewing, and some detail-oriented digital work to create the LED map.

Watch a video of this jacket in action on YouTube: https://youtu.be/_wrw9c-9wPg?feature=shared

    abstract:
    – This guide provides instructions for making a festive coat using LED lights, offering two methods: a simple fur-trimmed border light and a more complex light matrix panel with LED mapping.
    – It details the process of installing WLED on a microcontroller, setting WiFi and LED preferences, and testing the setup with a network-enabled device.
    – This guide also covers coating selection, LED layout and density, power limitations, and assembly step considerations for Feather microcontrollers and LED strips.

    Adafruit product summary:
    – The NeoPixel wire is connected to pin 13 on the Adafruit Feather microcontroller, which is the brains of the LED holiday coat project. [Feather](https://www.adafruit.com/product/3403)
    – The tail of the USB power switch is used to connect Feather’s USB port to the battery to power the LED light. [USB power switch tail](https://www.adafruit.com/product/1620)
