LAAB was a successful Kickstarter, and that’s how this love letter to comics began. We couldn’t help but take a closer look at the event to see what it had to offer. This time, the paper has multiple contributors to the project, all of whom contribute to a combination of comics, essays, interviews, illustrations, manifestos, and more. This is a phenomenal project and we can’t wait to see more. So if you want to own a glorious piece of comics history and creativity, don’t miss this project!

Unseen/Unheard: An Anthology of Disability and Neurodivergent Comics
Creator: Anas Abdulhak (Editor), Aubrey Lyn Jepsen (Ed.), and CK Carpenter (edit)
Target: $13,500
End date: October 18
nice one: The digital anthology is available for $12, the physical anthology is available for $20, and the variant cover is available for $25.
A 64-page comic anthology amplifying underrepresented voices in the disabled and neurodivergent communities.
It’s vital for us to tell the stories of neurodivergent and disabled people go through People who meet these conditions. This is one of the first sentences that begins to explain what this project is. We were pretty much hooked after that, and it’s important to realize that this statement carries a lot of weight, and that many of the stories in the anthology are personal, and having these creators tell the story in their own way felt like something to them Creating it is just as difficult. For this reason, this project is worth checking out, and it’s just one of many reasons, but suffice it to say that we at The Beat know you won’t be disappointed.

STARWEED #1-3 The Complete Comic Story – Let’s End with a Climax
Creator: Lex Wilson (Writer/Co-Creator), Tony Gregory (Writer/Co-Creator), Claudia Aguirre (artist), Lauren Norby (writer)
Target: $420
End date: October 5
nice one: The digital version is $4, the full digital series is $12, the physical version with stickers is $18, the higher-grade edition cover is $25, and the print version is $30.
In a world that feeds on the remains of deceased celebrities, they rob the bodies. Also starring dinosaurs and inflatable Clark Gable.
Aguirre’s art is phenomenal and it’s what we at The Beat first noticed, so it’s no surprise to us that, along with Wilson and Gregori’s writing, this project took off after a successful Kickstarter. So far, they are on their third and final installment, have hit their goal ($420 haha), and are well on their way to completion. This may be a sci-fi junkie comedy, but with a well-grounded story, some lovable characters, and action that seems to jump off the page, we’d be remiss if we let this project just go by.

The Eisner and Harvey Award-nominated story returns with an all-star cast to raise awareness of invisible illnesses and disabilities
This comic will touch the hearts of many, as more than 304,000 children and teenagers in the United States alone have type 1 diabetes. So it’s commendable that a comic is willing to address an invisible chronic disease. Now there’s a superhero who has to counteract that and their lives, secretly or otherwise, and it’s an amazing story. Just seeing the amount of work that went into these pages, and how Hart’s inspiration for this work allowed him to create such a melancholy yet uplifting story, makes us here at The Beat want to read this aloud from the rooftops comics. Don’t miss this item, I’m so disappointed and all I can give is my highest recommendation.
