“La Liebre” is a customized racing car built on a 1968 Ford Falcon chassis that won the 2024 Hot Wheels Legends Tour World Finals. The car competed against 5,000 vehicles from 13 countries and is the seventh vehicle to be selected into the Hot Wheels Legends Garage and receive die-cast honors. Part of the main line of Hot Wheels products, this car will leave a lasting mark on children and collectors alike as a 1:64 scale toy.
La Liebre is created by Giuseppe Casagrande and the team from Cars and Coffee Chile. The team’s commitment to supporting the Chilean automotive community was one of the reasons for the car’s win. “The mission behind La Liebre, built by Cars & Coffee Chile, is emblematic of what this tour is all about,” said Ted Wu, Mattel’s senior vice president and global head of design, vehicle and construction kits.
Casagrande and Maurizio Moschini co-founded Cars and Coffee Chile in 2014. La Liebre combines vintage style with modern performance.
The Hot Wheels team and the local automotive community evaluated more than 5,000 customized vehicles across 11 events with millions of participants around the world, including Colombia and the United Arab Emirates, two new stops on this year’s tour. There are 10 works in the global finals, and a jury is required to judge the winner. Panelists included car enthusiast and comedian Jay Leno and entertainer Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias, who were also joined by the Hot Wheels design team.
