Kevin Feige says spoilers won’t ruin Marvel movies

Deadpool and Wolverine opens in theaters this week, and it’s been hard to avoid spoilers ever since the premiere reactions went online. It doesn’t help that Marvel itself spoiled the return of major supporting characters in the film’s final trailer. However, this reveal may be in part because Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige doesn’t believe spoilers will ruin the experience of watching a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie.

“[It’s] difficult [to keep secrets] “It’s almost impossible right now,” Feige explained in an interview with Coming Soon. The only reason we want to keep it a secret is to keep it a surprise. That way the audience, that packed theater, can discover things for the first time, feel the adrenaline rush of surprise for the first time.

Feige went on to point out that any preconceived notions about spoilers disappear once audiences get into a theater and watch a movie with a like-minded crowd.

“If the movie works, if those moments work, they will work,” Feige said. “It’s probably always better if there are surprises. But if they’re crafted into cinematic moments, they’re also 99 percent effective. So that’s what makes me feel better when things are broken. “

“Deadpool” and “Wolverine” will be released on July 26. Participate in “Deadpool” and “Wolverine” panels in Hall H of Comic-Con.
