KDDI Corporation, palan and Pixelynx have collaborated to combine their respective artificial intelligence, cloud and XR (extended reality) technologies to enhance Pixelynx’s KORUS platform, KDDI’s αU cloud service and palan’s AR creation tool palanAR.
KDDI, a leading telecommunications company with 75 million mobile users, will use its infrastructure to collaborate with two other companies to create immersive music XR experiences for users.
The partnership focuses on enabling users to generate music AI and XR experiences without coding skills, making AR content creation easier by allowing creators to use authenticated AI through the entertainment IP infrastructure KOR protocol
What is Pixelynx’s KORUS?
KORUS by Pixelynx is an AI-powered platform designed for music creation and mixing.
KORUS is built on the KOR protocol, providing users with tools to develop music using artificial intelligence and manage intellectual property rights through a decentralized system. The platform is designed to integrate with KDDI’s cloud services and other technologies such as palanAR to provide users with a comprehensive environment for creating and distributing music in XR experiences.
KORUS is developed by Pixelynx, a company founded in 2020 by music industry veterans including deadmau5, Richie Hawtin, Inder Phull, Ben Turner and Dean Wilson, and later acquired by Animoca Brands in December 2022.
“We are a company for artists, by artists, focused on protecting creators and unlocking new forms of expression. We are developing KORUS and the underlying KOR protocol as artists and intellectual property rights holders develop their intellectual property rights in new ways tools while providing them with the protection and transparency they need to monetize effectively.
“Reaching millions of users through the KDDI ecosystem is just the beginning, and we will have more integrations this year that will help unlock new business models for the entertainment industry through artificial intelligence and blockchain.”
What is KDDI’s cloud αU?
KDDI’s αU on cloud is a service that provides APIs to enhance web3 products and services.
The platform can be integrated with generative artificial intelligence models, such as Google’s Gemini, to provide advanced capabilities. For example, αU on the cloud can enhance the shopping experience by generating try-on images from a single garment image.
In the context of this collaboration, αU on cloud will connect with Pixelynx’s KORUS platform to enhance user experience by allowing the seamless creation of live music and video content in XR environments.
“Producing XR content is inherently difficult because creators have to prepare many materials themselves,” said Nozomi Shimogiri, business development manager at KDDI Corporation.
“While 3D characters and models are relatively easy to prepare, preparing background images and various other materials is a challenge, especially when it comes to music, as finding and customizing the right materials is key.”
What is Paran AR?
Founded in 2016, Palan is a new startup company focusing on augmented reality (AR) technology.
Its platform, palanAR, enables users to build WebAR experiences without coding. In addition to palanAR, the company offers several other products, including the AR camera “TOBIRA,” the 3D management and editing service “palan3D,” and “WebXR Commerce” that allows users to explore virtual stores directly in a web browser.
Through cooperation with KDDI and Pixelynx, Pixelynx’s KORUS is being integrated into palanAR through KDDI’s αU cloud service, bringing artificial intelligence-driven music functions to palanAR users.
“We are working hard to create an environment where people around the world can express themselves using AR and that content can be viewed around the world. We want to strengthen this,” said Palan CEO Eiji Saito.
“As a use case, we hope to expand its use in the tourism industry. To do this, it is important to lower the barriers for local governments and creators at large to create AR content.
