Two of Jim Henson’s beloved dark fantasy films are getting multiple limited edition releases this holiday season. The Muppets creator’s 1980s hits The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth will be available in 4K Steelbook and Special Collector’s Editions November 19. The steelbook editions of The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth are exclusive to Walmart, priced at $29 each. In the meantime, you can save when you pre-order on Amazon black crystal collector’s edition and Labyrinth Collector’s Edition. The content on these discs is the same, but you also get some extra physical goodies.
Unfortunately, if you want a steel book box and For the collectible, you’ll need to purchase both editions, as the Walmart-exclusive steelbook is not included in the pricier edition.
This isn’t the first time these films have been made available on 4K Blu-ray, but for die-hard fans of Jim Henson’s filmography, these are certainly the most compelling releases to date.

The Dark Crystal was originally released in 1982 and was directed by Jim Henson and Frank Oz. Henson created the story concept and Muppet screenwriter David Odell wrote the script.
Featuring incredible puppetry, The Dark Crystal’s storyline revolves around the characters of Jean and Kira, two Gelflings who work to restore the powerful crystal and overthrow the evil that rules the land. Skeksis, thereby restoring balance to the world of Sla. This is essentially Final Fantasy before there was a Final Fantasy.
This is a set of two discs. The 4K Blu-ray includes the film, audio commentary, and a new Q&A at a fan event with The Jim Henson Company CEO Lisa Henson (Jim’s daughter).
The second standard Blu-ray contains the movie and a bunch of extras. other special features. Here’s everything you’ll find on both discs.

You get a 1:1 replica of the infamous Crystal, stickers, several art cards, 4K Blu-ray and standard Blu-ray movies, all packaged in a beautiful presentation box. You can pre-order the limited-edition Black Crystal Collector’s Edition at a great discount on Amazon. It was released the same day as the Walmart-exclusive steelbook edition.

Labyrinth was first released in 1986. ) and stars like David Bowie as Jareth, the Goblin King. Sadly, the film was a box office bomb at the time, but in the decades since its release, it’s gained rave reviews and a loyal fan base. The film follows Sarah as she embarks on a mission to rescue her infant brother Toby from the center of a giant maze after she wishes him to go to Jareth.
Like The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth is a dark fantasy about getting lost. Very Far from the typical Muppet movie, this 4K version also comes in a steel box with illustrations of Toby surrounded by goblins. There’s also an impressive array of bonus content to enjoy.
Special features are divided into two sets of discs, with most appearing on the standard Blu-ray. The 4K disc includes the video, audio commentary, fan activity Q&A and a video that teaches you how to connect with the Juggle like David Bowie.

Labyrinth’s collector’s edition comes with stickers, art cards, and a cool glass ball for reflection. All included in a beautifully illustrated presentation box. It’s essentially a matching set with the Dark Crystal, except you get the sphere instead of the crystal. Labyrinth Collector’s Edition also has a nice pre-order discount on Amazon and is released on the same day as the Walmart-exclusive steelbook edition.
