DC has just released the first trailer for its upcoming animated show, Biocommando . This will be one of the first projects under James Gunn’s leadership and is scheduled to launch later this December. Similar to Suicide Squad, the show will follow a group of villains who are sent on dangerous missions to the U.S. government.
We now know a little more about what the show is about, via a trailer released on Max’s official YouTube channel. Biocommando will follow Rick Flag as he leads a team of non-human villains including The Bride, Dr. Phosphorus, Weasel, GI Robot, Nina Mazursky and Frankenstein. The team still follows Amanda Waller’s orders, but unlike the Suicide Squad, which consists primarily of humans – Waller calls the team Task Force M (M for “Monsters”), rather than Task Force X.
While not much of the overall plot is shown off, it appears that Creature Squad will retain a lot of the humor from Gunn’s other DC projects, such as Suicide Squad and Peacemaker. Viola Davis will also reprise her role as Amanda Waller in the series, which also stars David Harbour (Stranger Things), Sean Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Frank Harbor (Stranger Things) Story”), Sean Gunn (“Guardians of the Galaxy”) and Frank Grillo (“Captain America: The Cold War”).
This isn’t the only animated superhero show DC has produced recently. Just last month, the studio released Suicide Squad: Another World , which tells the story of Harley Quinn and a group of villains trapped in a high fantasy world — and it has nothing to do with Creatures .
