DC’s All In program adds a touch of magic to its lineup. The publisher has announced Zatanaa new six-issue miniseries starring the DCU’s resident magical mistress. Write and illustrate Jamal Campbell and represented by letters (backwards) Ariana MaherIn the new series, Zee and her support crew will face new enemies.
DC describes it like this Zatana:
In the new limited comic series, Zatanna reunites her stage crew and looks forward to a new, less chaotic chapter in her life. However, her plans are derailed before they even begin, when her crew is kidnapped by a ghostly new adversary, Ms. White. Now, Zatanna is caught up in a conspiracy of tricks, swords, and curses that threaten to tear her apart from the inside out!
The series is the first solo series from DC writer/artist Jamal Campbell, who previously worked on Naomi with writers Brian Michael Bendis & David F. Walker and far area with writers NK Jamies. Campbell is also a contemporary artist Superman series with Joshua Williamsonand previously wrote and drew the two-part Nightwing story in Nightwing Batman: Urban Legend Anthology.
In a statement announcing the new series, Campbell expressed his passion for exploring Zatanna and her world:
“Miracles, mystery, mischief and fishnets are the essence of Zatanna Zatara’s stage show, and now it’s time for her to return to the spotlight,” said Campbell. “In her latest DC Comics series, Zatanna is dragged down a rabbit hole filled with cursed swords, hidden truths, and multiple brushes with death. She’ll need to use all her wits and all her spells to fully Get through it.
“This is a dream that tackles Zatanna’s world, introduces brand new allies and adversaries, and brings back some old classics that haven’t been seen in a long time,” Campbell continued. “I put everything I appreciate about the character into these pages to showcase and prove what makes Zatanna so amazing.”
