The event was scheduled to take place this weekend
The official X/Twitter account for the WasabiCon 2024 event revealed Thursday that the event will be postponed to November 22-24 due to Hurricane Milton. The event is scheduled for October 11-13 at the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center in downtown Jacksonville, Florida.
Conference staff stated that regarding the reasons for the postponement:
If we go ahead with the convention this weekend, many fans who can no longer attend our annual gathering will be excluded. We met with the team this morning at the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center and decided together that we wanted to make sure we had the opportunity to welcome everyone. As a result, WasabiCon will be moved to the weekend of November 22-24, 2024.
Staff added, “All exhibitors and ticket holders will have the opportunity to move to a new date, or to WasabiCon 2025.” Staff later added in a separate post that it could confirm refunds are also an option, Refunds will include all processing fees, so ticket holders will receive 100% of the refund amount.
The event announced earlier this month that it would feature voice actors madonna bright at this year’s event. Mano’s appearance will mark the first time a Japanese voice actor has attended the convention. Madono said on X/Twitter on Friday that he wanted to attend the postponed event from Nov. 22 to 24 so he could encourage everyone and help heal those suffering from the hurricane. He said: “I will definitely come, please wait for me.”
