The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models are reportedly getting some camera upgrades. Brace yourself; the tech bros in your life are about to get even more unbearable — Apple is hosting another event, and yes, that means the iPhone 16 is on the way.
Of course, that means more camera upgrades, because we all know what that is really Very important.
iPhone 16: 5 rumored new features that might make you ditch your phone
We’ve been following rumors about the iPhone 16 since the iPhone 15 debuted last September, and tracking the reports has been like a full-time job. The buzz is all about Apple Intelligence and how it will be integrated into flagship devices, but expect to see an increase in fancy buttons and ultra-thin bezels. However, for some of us, the main event here is the camera.
For all the photography enthusiasts and Insta lovers out there, we’ve rounded up three of the most interesting new camera features coming to the iPhone 16.
1. Added shooting button
Applicable to iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max
Aside from the new ultra-wide-angle lens, the most significant camera upgrade is the introduction of the capture button.
According to reports, all iPhone 16 models, including iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, will feature a new shooting button.

While the action buttons on the iPhone 15 are a nice touch, the capture button takes functionality to the next level, providing more control with less effort—a win-win.
Mix and match speed of light
This new feature provides users with enhanced camera capabilities through intuitive swipe gestures. Zooming in and out, focusing on your subject, and even handling more technical aspects like actuating the shutter are all smoother and simpler.
2. Better night mode
Available for iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max
Design updates are always nice to see, and the rumored new stacked rear camera design on the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models is no exception.
This is especially exciting for all you night owls out there. The stacked design, combined with Sony’s CMOS image sensor, is expected to enhance light capture and provide a wider dynamic range. Translation: Your low-light photography is about to get a major upgrade.
3. New ultra-wide sensor
Available for iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max
The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are set to enhance their photography capabilities with a 48MP ultrawide camera, a major upgrade from the current 12MP setup of the iPhone 15 Pro models.
According to reports, only the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models are equipped with the new ultrawide sensor.

This new lens allows for better light gathering, which means your photos taken in low-light environments will be even better. A report from Apple Insider in late August lends solid support to this rumor.
Ultra-wide-angle cameras usually have less sharpness than the main camera. If this 48-megapixel upgrade is the real deal, it could finally address those tough issues with sharpness and clarity.
