I am replying to you with a special message. You can now comment on Instagram Stories.
Previously, responders had only three options to express their desperate desire on a Story post: Like the story with their heart, react with an emoji (🔥), or reply with a private DM. They have been disadvantaged, begged for help, down and out. How can they get a good response when there are only three ways to request it?
Welcome back, MySpace: Instagram adds profile song
Thankfully, Instagram took their needs into consideration. For private accounts, anyone the poster follows can now comment. For public accounts, anyone the poster follows can comment, whether they are followed or not. These comments are temporary, like the story itself, but they are public and users can keep them when they save a story post as a highlight.

In addition to working on replying to users, it would make sense for Instagram to add more features to Stories. There are fewer people on the grid and more users are being drawn to Instagram Stories and Reels, so adding more ways to engage with Stories and Reels could be a smart business move. The entire change encourages users to spend more time on the app.
The feature is still being rolled out, so don’t worry if you haven’t seen it yet. If you do see it and want to turn it off, you can navigate to the Settings and Activity page, scroll down to “How others interact with you,” click “Comments,” then turn the Stories setting on or off .
