Apple TV+ is full of critically acclaimed shows, but few are as impressive as Silo. This dystopian science fiction series is adapted from the novel series of the same name by the famous novelist Hugh Howie. Fans of Howie’s work and exhibitions can now pre-order a compelling collector’s edition of Wool – the first book in a trilogy. Amazon offers a Pre-order price guaranteeso pre-ordering today means you’ll be entitled to any subsequent price reductions between now and launch October 15. The Silo Season 2 premieres on November 15th, so you’ll have plenty of time to read (or reread) Wool before you get started. Silo is exclusive to AppleTV+, but if you haven’t signed up yet, you can sign up for a 7-day free trial to watch Season 1 of the show.

While there have been multiple versions of “Wool” since 2011, there’s no denying that this is the best-looking version of the novel. Not only does it feature a reversible jacket, but it’s also designed with red spray-painted edges, an illustrated color backing paper, and an original essay from author Hugh Howey that provides a behind-the-scenes look at the making of Apple TV+.
It’s hard to find new hardcover editions of the Silo range at major retailers these days, so it’s great to see Howey’s collection getting the premium treatment it deserves.
Wool tells the story of a world struggling to survive. The remaining humans are forced to live in underground silos because the world above is no longer suitable for life. Things get even more troublesome when the Silo’s Sheriff leaves, and a mechanic named Juliet is forced to take his place. What follows is a dramatic science fiction epic as Juliet attempts to uncover a world-changing conspiracy.
Howey initially self-published “Wool” through Amazon’s Kindle direct publishing program. Interestingly, he published the book in installments, which is reminiscent of the serialized novels popular in the 1800s by authors such as Charles Dickens. Mars author Andy Weir had similar success with a serialized publishing strategy, but Weir used his personal blog to convey the story to readers.
Wool quickly became one of the early huge success stories of the Kindle publishing platform. This success led to an agreement with Simon & Schuster to distribute the print edition of Wool. William Morrow is publishing The Wool Collection.
Wool begins the story of the Silo, but when you close the book, the story is far from over. Howie continues the story transfer and summarized as dust–While these books don’t come in fancy collector’s editions yet, you can get them cheaply in paperback. There’s also The Silo Series Bundle, which includes all three books for just $30 (originally $60), making it the most affordable way to enjoy the trilogy.
