Marvel VS. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics is a monumental compilation of original collaborations from these iconic companies. Although Marvel VS Capcom 2 is everyone’s most wanted entry and we really get to see the magic of the previous games in the series. Most of them have secret roles! We’ve got the details on how to find them all.

Some of the secret characters here are palette swaps with only a few differences from the characters they’re based on. Others can be completely different fighters, such as bosses or even guest characters. In this guide I’ll explain how to play each Hidden Warrior, plus detail what makes each Hidden Warrior unique.

Where to find character unlock instructions in the game

This may come as a surprise, but almost every secret character in the game provides necessary steps to play. They’re just kind of hidden in some menus.

Go to the main menu and select Fighter Rewards. You then need to press the button labeled “Switch Player Progress Page” in the lower right corner. This will lead you to each game’s specific rewards for simply completing each character’s run. Scroll through and you’ll find a few awards with a “???” on them – these are the Secret Warriors. Press the “How to” button to find specific instructions for unlocking them.

Although these prompts are available at any time, you can only access them from the main menu. If you need a quick refresher when choosing a character, feel free to come back to this guide!

What does easy choice mean?

Whether you looked at the instructions on the player progress page or went directly into the game settings to make changes, you may have noticed that most of the six games have a setting called “Secret Character.” By default, they are all set to Easy Selection, and this guide will assume you have this feature enabled. However, you might be a little confused about what this or other options mean.

Easy selection means you can select secret characters without using any complicated inputs. There may still be some very simple inputs, but you usually just need to move the character away to select the portrait.

An original selection means it functions similarly to a later version, or has a different setting than the arcade version. Only some secret characters can be selected, and even then complex input may be required.

Disabled is the last common option, meaning there are no other fighters to choose from. You’ll be limited to what’s available on character selection.

X-Men: Children of the Atom secret person

The first and oldest game in this compilation is X-Men: Children of the Atom. Its three secret characters include two bosses and one from street fighter series.

• dominate – Anti-white Cyclops and press Juggernaut. He’s incredibly slow, but makes up for it with specials and supers that can wipe out huge chunks of his opponent’s health.
• Magneto – Highlight Omega Red and press the up arrow key to select Magneto. As the final boss, he’s by far the cheapest character. Powerful moves, a super shield that can negate most attacks, and a regenerating super meter are just some of his highlights.

He is based on his appearance Street Fighter Alpha 2so you have all the typical fun Akuma tools and the legendary Raging Demon Super. His signature low health is here as well, so I recommend attacking but being careful.

• Armored Spider-Man – Reveal Spider-Man and confirm the character while holding down the start button. He only has one-hit armor, doesn’t jump as high, but is otherwise the same as you know a web crawler.
• Mephisto – Highlight Omega Red and confirm the character while holding down the Start button. He is Blackheart’s palette, with the main difference being that his attacks will set his opponents on fire. That being said, this is purely a visual change and the fire will not cause any additional damage.
• dark cherry blossoms – Counter White Hulk and confirm the character while holding down the start button. This isn’t just a simple palette swap for everyone’s favorite vibrant Shoto. She ended up borrowing some moves from Akuma, including the Air Fireball Technique, and even got her own Angry Demon variant.
• May-Zangiev – Highlight Blackheart and confirm the character while holding down the start button. If you hate playing defense, this is the role for you. Mecha Zangief gains permanent super armor at the cost of blocking and acceptable jump height.
• shadow – Highlight Dhalsim and confirm the character while holding down the start button. Following what happened in his ending X-Men Vs. street fighterwhich is an enhanced version of Charlie. He’s faster and his super attack is stronger.
• Internet Akuma – Highlight Akuma and confirm the character while holding down the start button. The game’s final boss is pretty much a destroyed version of Akuma, so you can have a lot of fun playing Cyber-Akuma. All of his moves are faster, and in most cases stronger. He can even cast Raging Demon in the air for some ungodly reason.

Marvel vs Capcom: Superheroes’ clash of secret characters

Every secret character in the show Marvel vs Capcom: A Clash of Superheroes Except one is a palette swap. Even so, this outlier still shares moves with everyone else on the roster.

• Hulk (MSH version) – Highlight Ryu and press up to use Hulk (MSH version). This version, often referred to as the “Orange Hulk” by fans, plays similarly to the Big Green Man from The Incredible Hulk. Marvel superheroes. But it’s not the same, as there are some noticeable changes to the movement properties. Other notable differences include no super armor and faster movement.
• super armored war machine – Highlight Zangief and press up to use the super armored war machine. Like the Mech-Zangief from the previous game, this palette-swap of the war machine has super armor but doesn’t block or jump well.
• high speed venom – Reveal Chun-Li and press up to use Velocity Venom. Often referred to as “Red Venom” by fans, even though he’s clearly orange, this palette swap is the most shaky. He moves and attacks incredibly fast, which is offset by the fact that he takes almost twice as much damage from attacks.
• roll – Reversal Mega Man and press right to use roll. She’s the only one who doesn’t do a palette swap and has her own sprite, but her moves are technically the same as Mega Man’s. To be more precise, she’s worse than Mega Man due to her low damage and long attack delay. Roll is a hilarious character in this game, much like Dan Hibiki, only less viable, and more lovable.
• shadow lady – Invert strategy and press to use Shadow Lady. Arguably the most unique Hidden Warrior, Shadow Lady is a visual palette swap of Chun-Li with unique robot moves. These include triple jump, air dash, missile attack, and turning your hands into giant drills.
• Morrigan (Lilith) – Anti-White War Machine and press to use Morrigan (Lilith). The only reason to use her is if you want a team with two Succubi. In addition to easier air dashes, this palette swap suffers from worse fireballs and worse supers.

Marvel vs Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes Secret Characters
