Meta’s annual keynote will be held on September 25th and 26th in Menlo Park, California. Even though Meta Connect 2024 is a two-day event, we’ll likely hear all the product announcements during the opening keynote on day one at 1 PM ET. the activity. You can also choose to fully immerse yourself in the action using Meta Quest headsets from Meta Horizon. The company says this virtual experience is inspired by their Menlo Park campus and also allows you to “meet new people, join with friends, and unlock exclusive rewards.”
What can we expect from Meta Connect 2024?
You guessed it, Meta Connect is mostly about the company’s new artificial intelligence enhancements, but we’ll also see how they interact with its new hardware. The star of the show may be the Orion smart glasses, which Mark Zuckerberg briefly revealed in a Threads post earlier this year. According to The Information, the glasses have a projector on the right lens and are much heavier than regular glasses.
The entry-level headset Meta Quest 3S apparently joins the already affordable Meta headset lineup. This “lite” version will likely be a few hundred dollars cheaper than the $500 Quest 3, making the Meta series a more viable option than the pricey Apple Vision Pro. According to leaks on Reddit, it could cost $300 and come with a pair of external sensors. The problem is that Meta may offer limited passthrough functionality on its Quest 3S.
The Menlo Park company is expected to continue working with its old partner, Ray-Ban eyewear owner EssilorLuxottica; we hope to see new frame styles from Meta Ray-Bans. However, we’re more likely to see it advance some of its recent AI products into smart glasses or Orion.
We may receive the latest information on Meta’s ongoing artificial intelligence projects. We look forward to seeing where Meta’s Llama LLM (Large Language Model) goes. Or, an update to the company’s AI Studio lets you create AI chatbots with no coding experience and have them respond to messages for you. This is specifically targeted at influencers so that they can deploy artificial intelligence to speak to their fans on their behalf.
