In the Terminid frontend, we now have Impalerthey’re back from the first game and love to stab you with their extra-long tentacles that burrow into the ground. Yet, somehow, they’re not even the scariest new bug enemies included in the update.
That honor belongs to the new Spore Charger. Although functionally similar to existing chargerwhich is already a big enough problem, this new variant poses a threat to their entire deal. In addition to having a bunch of nasty growths dangling from their carapace, Spore Chargers also emit an acid green mist that fills the environment around them and obscures their exact location.
When I first encountered these things, I didn’t even realize it. because Hellraiser 2All kinds of weather effects, I thought I was just caught in an acid storm on this planet, I know it Can Happens before I dive into my task. Before I knew it, I was running toward an objective, barely able to see a few feet in any direction, when a teammate yelled that they’d spotted a Spore Charger in the thick fog.

Where to find the Spore Charger
Like the new Impaler and most advanced variants of enemies, Spore Chargers are easier to spot on higher difficulties. I first discovered one in a level 7 mission, and they most likely start appearing around level 6, which is called “extreme” in the game. Around this time the mods started hinting at large numbers of enemies as well as heavily armored enemies, and I do think these bad boys fit the bill.
As I’ve already mentioned, they’re pretty obvious from the outside, but the telltale sign that you’re about to face a Spore Charger is that the fog will eat you up pretty quickly. The fog is moving and Charger, so they’ll always be at their core, even if it’s hard to tell the difference between up and down when you’re in them. That’s why we need abilities and weapons that can lock on to and focus large amounts of power in order to kill them easily.
How to kill spore chargers
Now, because these things are pretty heavily armored, you’re going to want to pack something with some explosive power. As for weapons strategy, if you think you have to deal with the Spore Charger, bring a disposable anti-tank rocket launcher, commando, or spear. Just like a regular charger, blowing the protective case off its surface and firing it a second time should easily do the trick.
Personally, I probably prefer the Spear because of its locking feature. Considering the nature of the Spore Charger’s passive fog, and the fact that it appears on difficulties where you’re often swarmed, having a weapon that can compensate for any human error is a good insurance policy. Remember to give it some space, as the spear has to launch its rocket into the air before it can lock on and return.
If you don’t want to fight the Spore Charger head-on, there are actually ways to go about it, and it will take some time. Hellraiser 2An underutilized strategy. Both railgun strikes and Eagle 110mm rocket pods will be key to taking out the Spore Chargers from a relatively safe distance. This is because both strategies automatically target the largest targets in the area, rather than simply attacking the beacon-marked area.
These strategies have always been helpful against constantly moving enemy units, such as Bile Titans and standard warhorses, but thanks to the Spore Warhorse’s ability to weaken your vision, they’re now more convenient than ever.
If you’re feeling particularly enthusiastic and want to avoid using any strategies, or are simply exhausted because your task is so daunting –In fact, the Spore Charger does have more gaps in its armor than most other Chargers. Their sides are almost exposed due to the massive acidic growth, while their rear bottoms have the same weak point as the other chargers, But this method consumes ammo and time, hot commodities in the game.
