In order to produce speech, a set of mechanisms must be put together. What is the normal speaking pronunciation? How to make sounds the right way? Physiological analysis of various aspects of speech shows us: the jaw must move in a certain way; air must be expelled from the other lung. Based on concepts elaborated in the film Normal Intelligent Speech (1965) produced at the University of Iowa, we intend to reflect on the way women have been represented in film over the years and have been educated as a result and in the media. The film, composed largely of archival footage, aims to highlight the violence of this education through a montage inspired by the structuralist movement.
