Like the 2001 original, Silent Hill 2 Remastered is a rich game, with plenty to explore if you’re willing to delve into the game’s foggy and dark corners. Still, with a greater emphasis on combat and some areas that feel larger and more complex, and new puzzles that often require multiple steps to complete, it’ll be a while before you can escape that town. If you’re wondering how long it will take, that depends largely on how much of a completionist you plan to be, and whether you want to jump into the depths of Silent Hill 2 Remastered to discover its many endings (a total of eight) and other secrets.

Here’s everything you need to know about your playtime with Silent Hill 2, and what you can expect to find if you’re willing to spend more time in the nightmare. nature, Beware of some minor story spoilers in this article.

How long does it take to play Silent Hill 2?

Your playtime in Silent Hill 2 will vary greatly based on how much time you spend exploring towns, searching out out-of-the-way locations, and gathering additional information. This is especially true at key moments like early in the game, when you’ll have access to many parts of town and can inspect some important locations that aren’t part of the path forward. Among GameSpot team members who played Silent Hill 2 Remastered before its release, We found that the game lasted between 17 and 19 hours on the first playthroughwe were very diligent in looking for secrets at that time. If you weren’t so worried about finding secrets and extra ammo, Your first run of Silent Hill 2 Remastered may last 15 to 16 hours.

However, completing Silent Hill 2 Remastered for the first time unlocks New Game+ mode, allowing you to find new things like the chainsaw and unlock additional endings. Puzzle locations won’t change, which should speed up your run, but if you’re checking out other elements and trying to reach these new endings, expect a New Game Plus tour of Silent Hill 2 to take 10-12 hours. Completing the game within 10 hours earns you a trophy/achievement, so that seems like a reasonable benchmark.

Just like the original, some endings in Silent Hill 2 Remake seem to judge you solely on your actions, such as whether you were warm or cold towards Maria, or whether you kept James healthy or left him on the verge of death. However, for the extra endings, you’ll need to find new items that can add a little more time to your overall trip. Bloober Team also adds two new endings that were not present in the previous version of Silent Hill 2. So for those completionists who want to see everything it has to offer, as well as all eight endings, there’s dozens of hours to spend in total.

    Silent Hill 2 location list

Silent Hill 2 Remastered takes you through all the same locations, sequences, and story beats as the original game. However, many of these locations are now larger and more complex than before, greatly extending the length of the game. Here’s a rundown of all the major locations you’ll visit in Silent Hill 2.
