Mysaria continues to impress Black Team leaders with her honesty, intelligence and fresh perspective. She helped set in motion a plan to get the citizens of King’s Landing to side with Rhaenyra, using the power of rumor and some bribes in the form of much-needed food supplies. The plan helped sway public opinion, but Rhaenyra confessed to Mythalia on last night’s show that she still wasn’t sure she could lead her side to victory. After Mythalia gave her a heartfelt pep talk, Rhaenyra gave her a hug, and their lingering embrace soon turned into a passionate kiss.
Sure, it’s interrupted by the war stuff – but that marks a huge turning point for the character. Darcy spoke to Variety about how the two women found common ground and then became more. “In the beginning, they didn’t like each other at all. I think it’s interesting in such a patriarchal system to see both women develop mechanisms to navigate and manipulate systems of power. These skills are not meant to be used in other women. Designed for use,” Darcy said. “But as the series progresses, Mythalia…has a powerful impact on Rhaenyra’s ability to understand how a kingdom and its citizens are affected by civil war.”
As for the kiss, “In the beginning, I felt a strong sense of compassion and gratitude for this person. Rhaenyra was deeply affected by Mythalia’s courageous life. Then they were two people completely overwhelmed by the touch. Physically. Once they embrace and are physically connected, I think it’s pure physical desire.
