Mattel’s Hot Wheels and Aston Martin have teamed up to create a classic Aston Martin DB4 (if modified to chase land speed records on the salt flats), It takes the form of a 1:64 scale die-cast vehicle.
The iconic toy brand and British luxury carmaker took the classic DB4 shape and began modifying it, resulting in an aggressive front sprinter, a lowered roof, bespoke wheels and longer bodywork – all designed to enhance Aerodynamic performance and reduced wind resistance.
Aston Martin designers Miles Nurnberger and Thomas Gilbert are involved in the collaboration, along with Hot Wheels design manager Craig Callum.
After hundreds of concepts, design meetings and sketches, the team created the DB4GT “Speed Edition” die-cast model.
“Even by Hot Wheels standards, the plausibility between the complexity of Aston Martin’s original design and the bizarre land speed car resulted in a remarkable diecast,” said Craig Callum. “Aston Martin is one of the world’s most prestigious ultra-luxury performance brands, and by working with their team to add Hot Wheels-inspired elements to this iconic model, we offer collectors of both brands and developed some legendary products with fans.
The DB4GT “Speed Edition” 1:64 die-cast model will be available from global retailers starting in October.
