Rumors have been circulating for months that a remake of the PlayStation launch game is in the works. The games mentioned in the rumors aren’t the classics that many of us are hoping for a remaster on PS5, but rather PS4 games that aren’t old enough to deserve a re-release, let alone a remake.
Still, Sony, the company that brought us multiple remasters and re-releases of The Last of Us and The Last of Us Part 2, has taken the same approach with other recent games in its back catalog, Now it’s officially Horizon Zero Dawn’s turn.

Tonight’s State of Play showcase unveiled Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, an enhanced version of the PS4 original that only launched in 2017 (and PC in 2020) that will be in the hands of PC and PS5 players immediately October 31, 2024.
We were reminded of the remaster’s existence just last week when the game’s ESRB rating surfaced, leaving everyone scratching their heads. Of course, if you’ve been keeping up with the latest news, this isn’t the only PS4 game remaster we’ve learned about this week being developed.
“Horizon: Zero Dawn” is one of PlayStation’s most successful new IPs. The game kicked off a new series for the platform, received a sequel in Horizon Forbidden West, and even launched the upcoming Horizon LEGO Adventures, the first time the series is coming to Switch.
A third mainline, Horizon, is likely in the works from developer Guerrilla Games, and there are reports of a live-service, multiplayer branch game set in the same universe.
