Horizon Experiment, Vol. 1 One of the most interesting comic anthology has been collected in recent years. These comics have a set of five single questions with different creative teams, all independent stories and chapters that make you wonder what will happen next.
But this is a common challenge to every creator Horizon Experiment So interesting is that one of the editors of the series describes it here pornsak pichetshote, Who wrote in the introduction to New Trade: “Everyone is challenged the same: create a protagonist, from a marginalized background in a popular genre, and if the protagonist’s background changes, then your story will change so too.”
Beyond that, Pornsak wrote that the series involves “some of the most talented people I know” and offers books as pilots that can be followed up if the sale is worth selling.
This is the concept. therefore, Horizon Experiment, Vol. Close to the classic story object, but make them approach the protagonist and the story differently. It makes pop culture idols fun, and I personally want to see more. When they came out, these books became my monthly snack for everyone last winter. Granted, I don’t know all the creators involved, but one thing that attracted me was the beautiful link cover of the Eisner champion, Poetry (See them below, no trade skirts).
Last year, I really liked it Pornsak Pichethote comics The best manHe works with artists Jesse Lonergan. I think it’s a funny and adorable pet story and I still wish more people read it, but it seems like it’s lost in other animal comic books published at the same time. I think what really shines here is Pichetshote and Dennis’ ability to edit and curate all of these stories, despite different tones and artistic styles. The purpose is clear and achieved in every story. The further I read the comics, the more I work with other people in my reputation and with Pichetshote’s previous editing Unwritten, unknown soldier and Desserts Give me that hint, but now I totally believe in the power of editors.
Each section Horizon Experiment Providing entertaining for Hollywood calcified Hollywood tropes, readers are asked to ask basic questions about these tropes. The theme and focus of the story is special because the protagonists of these stories start in very different places. In this deal, you will get the following:
•Chinese Super Spy (Manchurian)
• Muslim exorcist (Holy damn)
• Werewolf family of East African descent (Moon Dog)
•The evil dead of the black nerd (Motherf*Ckin’ Monster)
•Reversal Indiana Jones (Discoverer/Guardian)
You can see everyone’s cover art in the gallery below…
There is only one quick news about each of these comics. this Manchuria It is an action story about restorators of other spies, but it can become a very interesting exploration of people being frustrated and disillusioned with their country, communities, and institutions. Fear of damn It’s a window into the world of Djinns, and I find it particularly appealing because I don’t know much about Islamic beliefs, but have been seeing this type of story around stereotypical Catholic priests in the media doing exorcism. Moon Dog There is a reward for having the experience of being willing to be a minority. Motherf*Ckin’ Monster It’s fun in conversation and probably the best cliff of all stories Horizon Experiment, Vol. Last but not least Discoverer/Guardian, a story It’s about the core of family relationships and the importance of the younger generation staying in touch with their indigenous cultures.
It’s always a challenge for writers to get the audience to care about new characters, but I think several expo text pages in each question provide a good background for our characters’ motivations while also explaining part of their story. However, the fact that each question has to be set up and paid off in the space of just one question is putting your pace a bit through, which makes you very eager to see how a full, longer story will work.
Now there are some details. I really like it Holy damn, By the writer Sabir Pirzada and artists Michael Walsh, There are some colors Toni Marie Griffin And letters and designs Becca Carey. The moody ink and colors in the book are very effective in using shadows to give a sense of fear and fear, setting the right mood throughout the story. It’s a quick look…
Overall, I really like these comics and I think more readers should pick up Horizon Experiment, Volume 1, Both because they will all like it, and also increase the sales figures we need to get The continuation of these stories. These are fun and strong characters who play great single questions. Just imagine what these creative teams can do with a full series.
