The best comics to buy this week, July 17, 2024, are a bunch of comics that run the gamut from the vulgar to the downright bizarre. In fact, most of them are gritty; Paranoid Garden is titled the strangest (praise). Below you’ll find my five favorite books of the week, along with the usual new releases…enjoy!
The most worth buying comics on July 17th
Thorns #7

In the penultimate issue of The Thorn’s second chapter, our heroine and Spider find themselves locked away in the terrifying Crane Island prison, where the secret Spider has been hiding from Thorn will finally be revealed!
This new discovery creates a crisis for Blair, who will have to contend with the terrifying Warden and the walls surrounding her and the spiders… and the walls between them.
Why it’s cool: Now, one of our best fantasy comics is coming to an end with its penultimate issue. The good news, though, is that it’s as good as ever.

Heart Piercer #3

As the werewolves weaken Briglen’s defenses, Atara will do whatever it takes to stop the forces of the night. But it will all be in vain if she can’t overcome their fears and show them that victory is possible. However, this seems less and less likely as the terrifying Howler himself stalks towards the village.
Why it’s cool: I’ve really enjoyed this series from the beginning, but this issue explodes in the middle of an all-out action scene, and it escalates the whole thing even further. Stop sleeping on this.

John Constantine – Hellraiser: Dead in America #7

Why it’s cool: I say this every time a new issue of this series comes out, but this is probably my favorite one. perhaps. if you are a Sandman Obsessed you can’t miss this.

Paranoid Garden #1
writer: Gerald Way and Sean Simon
artist: Chris Weston
Colorist: Dave Stewart
Writer: Nate Pickos
Publisher: dark horse comics
Lou is a nurse at the strangest care center in the universe. The staff are not entirely human and the cases are entirely otherworldly. Aliens, ghosts, superheroes and more creatures fill the corridors, and doctors, patients and the hospital itself all seem to have a certain sense of self. Lu believes that despite her recent job failures, she has been given some kind of higher calling in this mysterious place and decides to rise to the challenge. Along the way, she must overcome corrupt staff, a powerful theme park cult, and her own inner demons and traumas to take on the challenge and discover what secrets the gardens hold.
Why it’s cool: First off, Chris Weston is one of my favorite cartoonists, and Dave Stewart draws his colors to perfection. this book looks Astonishing. Most importantly, I can only describe the script delivered by Gerard Way and Sean Simon as That’s weird shit. It’s fantastic. Please have more comics like this.
