writer Scott Hoffman (member of Nostalgia, Wag, pop icons Scissor Sisters) and artist Alberto Ponticelli (“Frankenstein: Shadow Agent,” “Orc Island”) DSTLRY is launching a new series in November that covers all the bases. Warm Convergence is described as a sci-fi horror suspense novel, so it has something for everyone, including a future New York City plagued by biotechnological atrocities. As shown in the cover image posted, it looks crystal clear!
Half a century later, New York City is ravaged by crime, ongoing storms, residual radiation from terrorist attacks, and genetic mutations caused by corresponding medical innovations. After a series of murders in a city brothel, an escort named Vin Young, who plays Snow White from the Brothers Grimm and is one of a generation of deformed victims, hunts down the killers and reluctantly joins forces with Jarrod Hanover, who is assigned to The only police officer on the case. The pair end up at a biotech giant developing a cellular metal called Warm Fusion – a groundbreaking technology designed to replace prosthetic limbs – and soon encounter sociopathic scientist Nicholas Fleischer, who The terrifying alter ego Mr. Barnaby and the terrifying monster he portrays.
Warm Fusion combines David Cronenberg’s visceral horror with the dystopian urban sprawl of Blade Runner to deliver a chilling experience for fans of sci-fi benchmarks like Videodrome, The Thing and RoboCop.
In a statement, Hoffman said the book was an homage to the body horror classics of his youth. “Warm Fusion delves into the bizarre possibilities of biotechnology and its impact on humanity,” he said. “Alberto Ponticelli’s art is transitive, blurring the lines between flesh, machine and every human being trapped in a situation.”
“Working on Warm Fusion has been an exciting experience,” Ponticelli enthuses. “The world Scott and I have created straddles fear and hope, and it’s both perverse and delightful to imagine the extremes that humanity will be plunged into in the coming decades.”
WARM FUSION will be presented in DSTLRY’s signature perfectly bound Prestige format, with the 48-page story in a spot-color glossy cover.
