As a New Yorker who has lived in a small apartment for the past 15 years, I tend to choose solutions that help me maximize space from a design and practical perspective. When you only have a 600 square foot home, every inch counts!
My living room also serves as my home office during the work week, so keeping my space suitable for video calls is just as important as having a comfortable home entertainment setup. So when I get a chance to try a new product Hisense CanvasTV ($1,299.99 at Best Buy) — a television that doubles as a work of art — I was engrossed.

A high-tech fusion of form and function
TVs have gotten slimmer over the years, but the newly released CanvasTV is one of the first TVs on the market to fundamentally rethink its form, transforming it from a black box into a stylish design element for the home.
CanvasTV includes all the tech specs you’d want in a watch box, including 4K QLED that captures over a billion shades and a 144Hz refresh rate to ensure you stream your favorite shows with zero lag. Its surround sound audio makes movie nights feel like you’re at the theater.
But once you switch the TV into Art Mode and hang one of the 120 included famous paintings on your wall, those specs take on a whole new light. Capturing all the tones of Monet’s paintings is no easy task, but with quantum dot technology, this TV can display a wider, more accurate range of tones – something that’s just not possible with LEDs. Additionally, it enhances the immersive experience, making every viewing of each mode feel truly spectacular.
CanvasTV also features a high-matte display that eliminates any glare or distortion from ambient light for a more realistic display of artwork. This thoughtful detail makes the experience as enjoyable as viewing a true piece of art, and has the added benefit of QLED lighting.

Thoughtful attention to detail
With all these features, CanvasTV excels in function and form, avoiding any cheesy gimmicks you might be worried about. I can confirm: CanvasTV is more than just a fun party trick!
Mix and match speed of light
In addition to its impressive design, the slim wall mount that comes with CanvasTV is both stylish and sturdy. This two-part mounting system is easy to install with the help of another person (hat tip to George at Best Buy!).
Being my first wall-mounted TV, my space immediately felt more open and airy, and my media console was free for other items. The fixture sits flush with the wall and extends outward only a few inches, complementing the look and feel of other artwork adorning the wall and enhancing the feng shui of the room.
The teak frame is also a standout feature. Nothing ruins an artistic vibe faster or makes your TV scream louder than a shiny black plastic frame. The magnetic teak frame snaps into place easily, and the Hisense logo cleverly appears on the side rather than the front, tying this product’s dual functionality together in a truly intentional way.
It helps that the teak effortlessly matches my acorn finish media console and parquet floors, blending a mid-century modern vibe with cutting-edge technology.
Curate your own gallery experience
Your taste in art is your own, and who better to serve as director of your new home art gallery? Art Mode comes preloaded with 120 famous paintings, from iconic portraits like the Mona Lisa to modern abstract works by Klimt and Van Gogh.
Personalize your selection to showcase your favorite pieces, or cycle through slideshows you can curate to set a specific mood. A convenient button on the remote overlays a description that includes the title, artist, and a brief description of the work—so you can brush up on your art history, too. If you want to add a personal touch, you can easily upload your own photos using the Art Mode app.
During the workday, I like to pair an upbeat music playlist with a modern or abstract masterpiece. When I need to unwind at night, I switch to Google TV for its intuitive streaming app layout and smart recommendations. The famous Rotten Tomatoes ratings help me make my selections without having to hunt for reviews on other devices.
Here are the highlights: If you’re looking for a new TV or want to enhance the design appeal of your living space, the Hisense CanvasTV is a great dual-function product that offers flexibility in both form and function. It turns out that a 65-inch Hisense CanvasTV ($1,298.00 at Walmart) It’s possible to transform a cozy little apartment in Brooklyn into a majestic space. It can also be used 55 inches ($999.99 at Best Buy) versions so you can choose the size that works best for you.
