Even if you’ve played previous games in the series and it didn’t appeal to you, there are good reasons to recommend it It’s X Might win you over.

This is an excellent action game

Let me get right to the point: Ys X: Nordic Has the best combat system Ys games so far. Other recent Ys The game is played like a fast-paced hack-and-slash action RPG, with the emphasis on perfectly timed dodges and switching between party members to exploit enemy weaknesses. exist It’s Xthe party system has been minimized and there is no longer a weakness for enemies. Protagonists Adol and Karja now fight side by side, and you can quickly switch between the two to attack enemies with quick strikes and set up huge combos. Likewise, much of the dodge mechanic is integrated into Adol and Karja’s blocking capabilities, with perfectly timed blocks creating the series’ iconic “Flash Guard.”

    Fighting feels like a dance.

These changes transform the fight It’s X So much so that my past muscle memory Ys The game completely disappointed me at first. However, once I got the hang of it, I couldn’t believe the colorful and rapid sword strikes I made on the screen. Since Adol and Karja have separate SP meters that their special attacks consume, the battle felt like a dance, and I was constantly looking for just the right moment to tag the two in and out of combat to maintain a functionally endless Special attacks. Meanwhile, by activating “two-player mode,” Adol and Kaja fight as a single unit, delivering heavy attacks, and I once generously dispatched large numbers of enemies and attacked bosses when they were in neutral.

Perfect combination in two-player mode It’s X‘s block, as a perfectly timed block will result in Adol and Kaja locking down enemies with steel until they knock them back and deal a damage-boosting counter attack. Make no mistake, this is still a very fast action game, just like previous entries in the series – it’s just that It’s X The action slows down at times, allowing you to experience those moments of pure speed that the previous games were known for. Falcom basically created a combat system that embodies a well-designed feel Sonic the Hedgehog grade.

I could go on and on, but for now, you can check out the combined video uploaded from the Japanese version It’s X See for yourself how cool it looks in motion. That’s good, man.

The cast of characters is cute

Ys Games aren’t usually known for their gripping storylines. However, the series excels at creating a warm atmosphere, with almost every NPC having a name and their own personal story that unfolds in the context of the main plot. It’s X Particularly brilliant in this regard, there is an affectionate crew that supports Adol and Karja as they sail on the boat. However, in a surprising twist to the series, the protagonists steal the show this time around.

It’s X is a coming-of-age story in which teenagers Adol and Kaja are bound together by a thread of fate (it wraps around their wrists like handcuffs) and join forces to find out why they are so attached and save the resident Kanak town. Although Atlu is usually a silent protagonist, he is surprisingly expressive It’s X. He’s a capricious, mischievous fool, but his insatiable thirst for adventure and penchant for diving headfirst into danger make him easy to support in times of crisis. Meanwhile, while Kaja comes across as typically arrogant at first, her carefully crafted demeanor endeared me to her as she grew into the leader the Kanak people needed. Make no mistake, though; Karja is as good a fighter as Adol is, and it’s great to see them working so well together as a team

Once the game reaches its second chapter, Adol and Karja have developed a genuine, genuine connection with each other, sharing their life stories and supporting each other through hardships. Whenever they defeat a big boss together, they celebrate with a fist bump or a high-five, much like you might feel after overcoming a daunting challenge with a friend in a video game. They have their disagreements and have heated arguments, but if anything, these moments further drive home how real they feel together. It’s X It feels deeply personal, and it’s one of the best ways to get to know the series’ protagonist, Adol. It’s a low-stakes story by RPG standards, but as the characters are well-written, the overall theme of realizing your potential and finding meaning in life resonated with me.
