what is it

Designed for children ages 6 and up, this Lite-Brite is special, with twice the number of LEDs as a standard Lite-Brite for an extra bright experience. The set contains six Hello Kitty-themed designs, three of which are Hello Kitty-themed, as well as designs for My Melody, Badtz-Maru and Kuromi.

To start designing, kids can remove the snap-on grid, place one of the Hello Kitty templates on top of the Lite-Brite, and snap the grid back on. I created the design that used the most mini nails and I was able to put it together in about two hours. Whether kids use the Lite-Brite as a display piece or as a way to relax and re-design, this is the perfect activity for any Hello Kitty fan. With 1,000 mini nails in pink, white, yellow, blue and red, kids can create their own designs too! The set also comes with a mini tool to help kids remove nails from the board. When kids are ready to show off their designs, they can plug in the Lite-Brite using a USB cable or pop in three AA batteries (not included).

why we like it

Any toy with Hello Kitty on it automatically gets an A+ in my book. The snap-on grid allows you to easily attach the template to the Lite-Brite, so kids’ fun designs don’t get cluttered by shaky hands or a wobbly table. The included design is the perfect decoration for an older child’s bedroom or playroom, especially if they love Hello Kitty and all things pink. Crafting on a Lite-Brite is also a great stress-reducing activity after a long day.

Important things to know

Mini nails all come in one bag, so it may take extra time to sort out all the colors before designing. Mini pegs are also very easy to lose, so parents need to be aware if there are young children or pets around. Additionally, using fun light patterns such as flashing may not be safe for children with epilepsy or similar conditions.
