Helldivers 2’s much-hyped latest update, patch 1.001.100, has finally been released, bringing a slew of buffs and tweaks to everything from weapons, to armor, and even enemies that players have been asking for.
Arrowhead has been busy hyping up the update since it launched today, September 17th, announcing some headlines each day via a blog post, which also includes some content patches you can see in there. Still, the full notes are worth a look.

You can do this by checking out Arrowhead’s lengthy 4,000-word or so patch notes, which document all the changes and fix everything in one place, using a familiar format that you should find at ease. There’s also a full video that’s about 35 minutes long with Arrowhead developers Johan Pilestedt and Niklas Malmborg talking about a bunch of the changes, so check that out if text isn’t light enough for you.
So what does the update do? Well, loads, there’s some big stuff Arrow didn’t quite reveal until the patch goes live, including that “the Galactic War Map can now show the location of strategically important assets” and a new emote wheel. The former “will make it easier for Helldivers to take them into consideration when deciding their next move,” Arrowhead writes.
To address the issue of some weapons being ineffective against Terminids, Arrowhead has “reworked armor penetration, anti-tank weapons, enemy armor, and health,” with the goal of improving “autocannons, heavy machine guns, flamethrowers, and anti-materiel rifles against heavy weapons.” On the robot side, the studio continued, “The Hulk’s armor has also been reduced, making them more vulnerable to a wider range of weapons.”
“We’re adjusting the damage mechanic to make the damage Hellstalkers take more consistent over time by reducing the 100% bonus headshot damage to 50%. To keep the overall challenge of the game, we’re slightly increasing the damage to the body Damage elsewhere Our goal is to keep the intensity of the game high while minimizing the frustrating situations where sudden headshots deal huge amounts of damage.
“With these changes,” Arrowhead wrote, “plus an upgraded Helldiver arsenal, enemy adjustments, and more consistent damage, the overall difficulty may drop slightly. We’ll be keeping an eye on this and hearing what the community has to say.”

All of the changes previously announced by the studio include a plethora of changes to weapons, enemies and strategies, such as buffs to the flamethrower that should return things to the way the game was before the free upgrade update improves on the old favorite railgun, And adjusted the stagger force and magazine size of the Destroyer shotgun.
On top of that, the Arc Thrower gets some extra lightning jump, the Ejector returns shrapnel in a way that hopefully doesn’t lead to too many accidental suicides, and rocket-toting enemies like the Robot Destroyer will now run out of ammo Or must be reloaded.
Oh, and the blast radius of the 500kg bomb should finally match the impressive blast visuals you get when you drop it on some unlucky enemy.
