This is the fate of some anime based on toy lines
When an anime series faces ax, fans don’t always find out why. Creators typically don’t publicly confirm that animations have been shortened, at least not right away. This topic came up last weekend when there was discussion about whether Postwar GundamX The anime was canceled and became popular in Japan on X (formerly twitter).
Mobile Suit Gundam Seed FREEDOM director Mitsuo Fukuda On October 20th, he took some time to talk about two of his past animations:
I couldn’t help but watch it when the disturbing word “canceled” appeared in the recommendations. By the way, most old toy projects are canceled if they are not completed within a year. Cyber Formula and Dendou have also been cancelled.

The ominous word “cancellation” is trending, and I couldn’t help but glance at it. By the way, toy anime projects at the time were usually canceled if they didn’t run for a year. Internet equation and Chuan Tang Also canceled.
In a follow-up post, Fukuda noted that the series is like the first Mobile Suit Gundam anime and space escape edion There are also toy animation works.
Most of the early works of Gundam and Ideon were toy projects.

Most of the older works are like Gundam and an idea Developed for toys.
What’s a bit unclear about Fukuda’s original post, though, is whether the director was referring to toy sales or viewership numbers when talking about cancellations. However, when a fellow director Big tree in west village Ask Futian if OVA series Internet equation Fukuda noted that this was partly due to high sales of home media and albums.
While we couldn’t get major sponsors or numbers, we had a lot of fans buying music and videos, so we had customers.

Nishimura: So network_____ It was indeed cancelled. High school students didn’t feel this way when watching it…but is that why it was later expanded into an OVA?
Fukuda: Although we didn’t get numbers from major sponsors or TV stations, we had a lot of fans buying the music and home video versions, so we had customers.
Fukuda summed up his thoughts on the anime’s cancellation in an October 21 post:
Even though it’s been discontinued, it’s still around for many years because it’s so fun. We feel fine with the cancellation, but I think our perspective now is completely different from the days when there were only a few animations aimed at children.

Even though it was “canceled”, it has persisted over time because it’s fun. I think it’s fine that it was cancelled, but people view it completely differently now than they did back then when animation for kids wasn’t important.
