Richard Webb deserves happiness, but it looks like that’s never going to happen.
At least, not if Shonda Rhimes has anything to say about it.
A promo for next week’s episode suggests that Richard may be facing losing the woman he loves for a third time. Let’s take a look at the spoilers for Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 Episode 3.
Once, twice, thrice widowed?
What’s worse than watching a beloved character receive devastating news that could change his life?
Well, it looks like Meredith has to be the one to break the news to Richard that Katherine is dying.
The titular character is clearly going into a crisis of conscience and doesn’t know whether to tell him or not.
You know, because Catherine blackmailed her into shutting up.
By the way, the look on Meredith’s face as she stood with her back to Richard was so familiar.
Back in Grey’s Anatomy Season 7 Episode 19, she had the same pained look on her face.
that’s right.
I imagine it would be difficult to decide whether to tell Richard that Catherine was dying. Just as difficult as deciding whether to tamper with Derek’s Alzheimer’s trial to ensure Adele got the experimental drug instead of a placebo.
At least no one would say Dr. Gray has no conscience.
I can’t imagine a world where she doesn’t spill her secrets.
Richard is the closest thing Meredith has to a father. It would be heartbreaking for her to have him know nothing about it.
‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 21 Episode 3 Spoilers: Will Katherine Die?
Of course, if Catherine survives, she may be devastated when she discovers that Richard knows the truth.
The question is, will she fire Meredith again, or send her lawyers after her?
Of course, we’re assuming that Katherine won’t die in the upcoming episodes.
It might be hard to believe that the writers would ruin the Fox Foundation’s reputation. But if we’re being realistic, this wouldn’t be the most far-fetched storyline in Grey’s Anatomy history.
At this point, I’m not sure if anyone still has feelings for the character.
Katherine has become very vicious recently, and not even a near-death experience can justify her actions and treatment of others.
What happened in the operating room?
Nick returned to Seattle for some reason. Does anyone know what happened to this guy? (Better question: Do we care?)
The standard for the Gray Sloan program is that doctors who no longer work there will perform surgeries anyway.
It’s unclear why Nick was the only surgeon available to operate on the patient, but Webber, Griffith and Adams also joined the operating room.
(Also, Bokhee is there! It’s great to see her; she’s one of the best characters Grey’s Anatomy has ever produced.)
For unknown reasons, the patient was unable to undergo general anesthesia. With that in mind, this has the potential to be a very exciting surgery.
Awake surgeries are rare, although we’ve seen some on this show, and with them come a long list of additional complications.
I bet this surgery is going to be a big deal, and not just because the patient is fully awake.
‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 21 Episode 3 Spoilers: Relationship drama for everyone
Also, how will Griffith and Adams handle working together now that their relationship is back on track?
Speaking of their relationship, we need to talk about their conversation in Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 Episode 2.
For a moment, Simone seemed about to force a serious conversation about the realities of a resident dating an intern.
Although Lucas was anxious about re-internship, he made it clear that the situation had nothing to do with Simone.
That’s a pretty mature response, and he’s right – his career shouldn’t be affected by who he dates. But that doesn’t mean Simone’s concerns are unfounded.
to be honest.
This being Grey’s Anatomy, there are countless examples of superior-subordinate relationships.
Frankly, the HR department at Gray Sloan School of Management is probably exhausted.
Obviously, sometimes these morally questionable hookups work out, bringing happiness to everyone involved.
But power imbalances at work often lead to complications at home.
Simone is right to want to resolve this potential problem before it escalates into something neither of them can handle.
Speaking of relationships, Micah and Jules have been spending some quality bonding time together now. Sadly, as we all know, their budding romance was doomed to fail.
With Midori Francis exiting Grey’s Anatomy at some point this season, we can’t help but be disappointed that this particular ship sank before it even set sail.
We can’t forget Blue, whose passion for an ex-fiancée who doesn’t remember him begins to grow.
I’m currently struggling to feel invested in this storyline, but maybe the next few weeks will turn that around.
Some fans also noticed the chemistry between Levi and the new hospital chaplain last week. Maybe we’ll see some development between the two of them.
When will these characters return?
Going into next week, I expect to see more of Bailey and Warren.
Now that Station 19 is officially over, Ben should apply to rejoin Gray Sloan’s residency program. Jason George is keeping his Shondaland job security!
If we’re lucky, he’ll bring back Stefania Spampinato in the form of a pregnant Dr. Karina DeLuca.
I’d also love to see Danielle Savre (who plays Carina’s wife Maya on Station 19) show up at least a few times to give us a mini firehouse reunion.
Since Joe and Link are also expecting a baby, the hospital will most likely need Karina’s services.
I’ve said it before, but I’ll keep saying it until someone proves me wrong: There’s no way Joe’s pregnancy is going to go smoothly. That’s not how this show works.
So there’s plenty of opportunity for Karina (or even Addison?) to make a seamless return to Grey’s Anatomy .
Next week’s episode will obviously be full of drama and maybe even a shocking development or two, so be sure to tune in Thursday at 10/9c on ABC to see what happens next.
Let me know what you think in the comments; I love hearing your theories!
