Is anyone else fanning after watching Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 Episode 2?

The moment was filled with tension, and not just bad tension.

While some doctors are focused on finding their place at Gray Sloan Memorial, others are caught up in the proverbial heat wave sweeping the hospital.

Catherine shows no remorse and we are all paying the price

Before we get to the fun stuff, though, we have to talk about Katherine and the giant rain cloud she’s living under these days.

Look, I get it. Cancer is scary. I would be in a bad mood too, and Catherine should have the space she needs to express all her feelings.

But at a certain point, it stops being an excuse to treat those around you like trash.

Everyone around Catherine is walking on eggshells between cancer and the immense power she wields, but something must pay.

She was rude, she lied to her family, and she made reckless decisions that had serious consequences on people’s lives. That’s not cool.

I want to give her grace, but it’s getting harder and harder every week.

It’s long past time for Catherine to grow up, tell Richard and Jackson what happened, and make amends to everyone she scolded.

Whether or not the lesions on her liver are benign, she is currently at a crossroads.

For the first time since her initial diagnosis, Catherine was faced with the fact that she might actually die. Frankly, catching Jackson and Richard off guard was pretty selfish.

She’s probably on borrowed time. Hope she does the right thing.

Richard Is Still Trying to Retire on Grey’s Anatomy Season 13 Episode 2

Is there anyone more tired than this?

Richard broke my heart in this episode. This is the second time I’ve seen him serenade his dying wife (remember Grey’s Anatomy Season 8 Episode 12?). I don’t know how much more I can take.

Of course, he didn’t know that his wife was going to die this time. He had other things on his mind, such as his quest for more than two decades to retire and live out his golden years in peace.

If only Winston had left the poor man alone. I know he was trying to be encouraging, but seriously, give Richard a rest!

I would love to see a storyline in Season 21 where Richard hangs up his scalpel for good.

    Shonda, give Weber a break!

Women in charge, men on the golf course

It’s telling that while Meredith, Miranda, Teddy, Amelia, Monica, and Katherine take control of the hospital, Richard, Lucas, and Winston kill time on the golf course.

Bailey and Altman plucked up the courage to ask for their jobs back. Beltran and Shepard counsel an unlikely patient. Meredith and Katherine argue about treatment plans.

    Richard made birdie. Congratulations, man.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 Episode 2 Is Full of Gay Chemistry

Honestly, it’s hard to fault this episode: it’s delightfully gay.

It looks like the writers are taking LGBTQ+ representation seriously this season, and I couldn’t be happier.

We have a classic Grey’s Anatomy elevator kiss, this time between Micah and Jules.

    Meredith looked worried.Meredith looked worried.

We then get a few Amelia/Monica scenes and the sparks keep flying.

Schmidt meets the new hospital chaplain, who is also gay. While there isn’t any romantic relationship between them in this episode, it’s still exciting that two openly gay characters can coexist in multiple scenes.

In fact, having LGBTQ+ characters exist and live normal lives is what everyone is asking for. It’s all the little things, you know?

Schmidt discovers pedestrian devastation in Grey’s Anatomy Season 13 Episode 2

Does anyone remember the Tay-Sachs patient Bailey treated in Grey’s Anatomy Season 5, Episode 20?

Few episodes can destroy me like that one. It was heartbreaking to watch Bailey hold that sweet little girl while the patient’s father desperately tried to figure out how to save her.

“Take Me to Church” moved me in the same way, thanks to Schmidt’s pediatric patient, who was under the care of a hospital chaplain.

The whole case was difficult, but when Schmidt delivered the news to his children that he was terminally ill, I lost my mind.

Not surprisingly, Schmidt was also severely affected. The child cried over his diagnosis, crying that he didn’t want to die. It’s a devastating scene.

Unfortunately, we know that Jake Borelli will be leaving Grey’s Anatomy this season.

After this case, I have to wonder if Schmidt realized he wasn’t cut out for this heartbreaking job.

This isn’t the first time a patient has affected his mental health. It makes me wonder if this is the direction the writers will take as they say goodbye to the character.

a very heavy moment for television

There are many other great moments throughout the episode, including Blue getting the conclusion from his ex-fiancée about his role in her injury.

Blue's ex-fiancée is waiting for answers.Blue's ex-fiancée is waiting for answers.
    (YouTube/Screenshot)

To be honest, I didn’t care too much for this storyline. It feels like a means to an end, and a way to transform Blue from a tortured loner into a more healed version of himself.

I wanted to fast forward to the part where he was happy and ready to move on.

Also, are we going to address whether Adams actually has ADHD? It seems like he puts a lot of pressure on himself about things he has no control over, especially if he’s neurodivergent.

I really hope the writers take the time to delve into this sooner rather than later, because it’s hurtful to Lucas’ ego.

Notably missing from this episode are several major players who could be the focus of big storylines this season.

We don’t see Ben, who is supposed to be back at work at the hospital after leaving Station 19.

Shocking revelations — Shocking revelations —
    (ABC/Giles Mingason)

Unfortunately, Owen Hunt was not absent from this episode, but as usual, he added no value and made zero impression. Irving, here are a few stars for you.

That wraps up this week’s content! What was your favorite part of this hour?

We’ll be back covering Grey’s Anatomy next week and throughout the season, so grab your popcorn and settle in!

Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays at 10/9c on ABC and the following days on Hulu.
