Google is making it easier to track Google Meet calls that are easily hidden in your tabs when you’re using desktop Chrome. According to a blog post, the company is currently rolling out a feature that will automatically start a Google Meet call in picture-in-picture mode when you switch tabs in Chrome.
As Google shows in the GIF, when you click away from a Google Meet call, a new Meet window pops up elsewhere on the screen so you can keep an eye on who’s speaking. This can be handy when you’re actually looking at a document someone shared and are definitely not checking your thread feed.
The automatic picture-in-picture feature isn’t available on paid accounts; Google says it’s available to “all Google Workspace customers, Workspace individual subscribers, and people with personal Google accounts.”
