Google Gemini AI will be used throughout the Paris Olympics broadcast

The broadcast will include Google Maps 3D views of venues such as the Palace of Versailles, Roland Garros and the Aquatics Center, as well as tidbits on what events will be taking place at each location. These images are taken from the immersive views added to the map over the past few years, which represent certain landmarks and areas of interest through photorealistic models.

As part of a deal to promote Gemini and other Google artificial intelligence tools, announcers and commentators will squeeze Google Search AI overviews into broadcast segments by trying to answer Olympic and Paralympic questions. Between this and the AI-generated Al Michaels review, hopefully this all works better than when it told us to add glue to our pizza or said we should expose all the film in the camera to fix a paper jam.

In addition, comedian Leslie Jones will ask Gemini to help her learn a new sport and other scripted activities, while five Olympic and Paralympic athletes will use Gemini, Google Lens, and Circle to Search to appear in ” Explore Paris through social videos and late-night promotional videos and the immersive view of Google Maps.

Revealed: Comcast, which owns NBCUniversal, is also an investor in Vox Media, edge‘s parent company.
