Kaiju No. 8 fans, it’s time to celebrate as the sequel series has been confirmed for a second season.
Last month, Monster 8 was confirmed to be getting some sort of sequel, but there was no explicit indication that it would be another season. After all, there are plenty of series these days that are adapted into movies based on specific manga plots (you can thank Demon Slayer for that). However, it was confirmed yesterday that the rather good Kaiju No.8 will be getting a second season, which will arrive sometime in 2025. Known as Kaijü Hachigo – the word “hachi” in Japanese stands for the number “8”, the eighth month of the year, August, while “go” (minus the long omacr;) means ” Five”, dated August 5.

The 2025 announcement came with an interesting trailer, which you can see above, showing different clips from the animation overlaid with filters, as if these were government recordings of the different monsters Kafka had to face. In addition to the announcement of a second season, there is also news that a film compilation of the first season is also in the works, although it is unclear whether it will be released outside of Japan. On top of that, a special episode called “Hoshina’s Day Off” is in the works and will be shown alongside the compilation movie, so we’re hoping it makes its way here in some way.

If you’re wondering where to watch Season 2, Crunchyroll has announced that it will stream the sequel series when it airs next year. Beyond that, details about the new season are scarce, but I’m sure comic readers will have a good idea of what to expect.
