Avatar: The Last Airbender has a loyal following of fans who got lost in its deep and touching story, so much so that the series spawned a spiritual successor series in The Legend of Korra and received two live-action installments Adaptations, including the wonderful Avatar: The Last Airbender . The manga is set against the backdrop of the war and defeat with Fire Lord Ozai, and follows the anime series’ protagonist as he deals with the aftermath of these events and embarks on new adventures. The comprehensive collection includes complete stories written by Gene Luen Yang and art by Gurihiru, created in collaboration with series creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. The set includes five complete stories collected in comprehensive volumes: “The Promise,” “The Search,” “The Crack,” “Smoke and Shadow,” and “North and South.”
In addition to the ongoing stories collected in the omnibus, there are standalone graphic novels that add to the Avatar story. Three are written by Faith Erin Hicks, drawn by Peter Wartman, colored by Adele Matera, and Jimmy Bettencourt (Jimmy Betancourt) Letters included in the Avatar: The Last Airbender – Team Avatar Vault boxed set. The Vault boxed set includes stories featuring fan-favorite characters from the series: Katara and the Pirates of Silver, Toph of the North’s Golden Academy, and Suki, Alone.
