For some, the biggest selling point may be new 5-star character Mualani. This eccentric surfer is extremely versatile and a great introductory character to an area influenced by Aboriginal culture. Mualani is a Hydro Catalyst character who, like other Natlan characters, is a huge asset when it comes to time travel. She can use her shark-themed surfboard on land and in the water with little disruption. What makes her even more valuable is that her damage potential becomes ridiculous as her health decreases. She has a lot of abilities, but she needs to be portrayed correctly to get the most out of her.
Best Mualani team composition
Since her equipment is simple and deals damage with one attack, you’ll want to use her as your primary DPS to trigger elemental reactions. The ideal setup is to inflict Pyro on the enemy and then attack with Mullani to get the Vaporization reaction. Performing in this order will provide a double damage multiplier.
To make this all go smoothly, you need a Pyro sub-DP role, and Xiangling is a natural winner for this role. Even when she’s off the court, her skills and burst ability work well with Pyro. Just make sure to time Mullaney’s attack after the enemy is set on fire for extra damage.
For further assistance with the faeries, I would certainly recommend Bennett. He is usually paired with her as she makes good use of his attack buff and energy generation. While he won’t directly benefit Mulaney much, he deserves a spot on the team just to help Wisdom cast Elemental Burst more often.
There’s nothing wrong with adding more damage with the right support. My top recommendations for this task are Kazuha or Emilie. Kazuha can pull enemies closer and then use attacks that absorb different elements. Emily is best suited to using her Tree Elemental with Pyro for a burning reaction, which works well with Wisdom before Mullaney attacks.

Adding another character from the Natland region is also worth your consideration. Having more of these in the team will shorten the cooldown between Night Soul bursts. Kachina and Kinich will be your only options during the 5.0 update. with a Xbox release date The release date is November 20th, and I believe there will be many new characters in the future.
Mulaney’s best weapon
Equipping the right weapon is just as important as choosing the right teammates. Those with increased health will be a priority, as most of her damage will be outside of that stat. Any buffs to the normal attack DMG will also help, since her skill attacks do count as normal attacks.
Surf’s Up is a 5-star weapon that appears on the Epitome Inspiration banner along with Mualani. Unsurprisingly, this unique item that fits perfectly with her outfit is the best choice. In addition to providing a Hot Summer stack that increases normal attack DMG, it also significantly increases the user’s maximum health. If you can trigger the evaporation reaction, you can accumulate more of these stacks.
If you want something more accessible, Ring of Yaxche is a great free-to-play option. After the elemental skill is triggered, for every 1000 points of life increased, the normal attack damage increases by 0.6%. All you need to do is visit the blacksmith in Natland to craft this weapon.
Best talent upgrade
Of the two Natlan characters released so far, the common focus relies on their travel and combat skills. Mulaney’s normal attack stats are only taken into account when she’s standing up, and we want her to be on the Sharkboard as often as possible. Here’s the order in which you should prioritize upgrades:
- Elemental Skill – Surf Shark Breaker
- Elemental Burst – Boomsharka-laka
- Normal attack-cooling treatment
Mualani’s Best Artifact Sets
Finally, we come to artifact selection. Hydro DMG and HP gain should naturally be the first priority, but the optimal settings are different.
The Obsidian Codex is a new artifact set that’s perfect for Mullaney. Whenever she uses an ability and activates Night Soul’s Blessing mechanic, the two-piece effect increases her damage by 15%. At the same time, when Night Soul Points are consumed, the critical hit rate of the four-piece set will increase by 40%. It can be obtained by completing the Blessed Realm of the Rainbow Elf Temple.
The next full set worth considering is Heart of Depth. The two-piece suit increases water damage by 15% for a limited time after using the skill, and the four-piece suit increases normal attack and charged attack damage by 30%. This set can be obtained by completing the Vindagnyr pinnacle realm in Mondstadt.
Based on the idea of strengthening normals, Martial Artist is very effective against Mualani. Two-piece set increases normal attack and charged attack DMG by 15%. The four-piece set functions similarly to the previous set, increasing damage by 25% for a limited time after using skills. The set also requires you to complete the Artifact Realm, specifically the Zhouyin Palace Formula in Liyue.
Mualani is the first 5 star character Genshin Impactof New Natland and great DPS to boot. Even without the unique Night Soul Blessing mechanic, the damage her evaporation reaction does is incredible. If you want someone who has a strong fighting ability and interesting time travel, then Mulaney is worth your choice.
