Gel Blaster officially launches Nexus, a new digital and physical gaming system, in gaming centers across the country.
Nexus combines the physics of paintball using Gel Blaster water balloons with the digital scoring of laser tags. The Nexus Smart Blaster launches water balloons at 170-240 feet per second. Each explosion is tracked and scored using infrared emitters and ultrasonic sensors. Blasters have different modes and abilities, including submachine guns, revolvers, and snipers. Nexus Vest is equipped with a hit detection panel and provides visual, auditory and tactile cues through animations and the Nexus AI voice assistant.
The game also features Nexus Portal smart goals, which use the same technology as Nexus Vest. When targets are hit, they may reward players with power boosts, point bonuses, or health. The system features multiple game modes, including video game-inspired entertainment. Players can also take home their stats and rewards via relation app.
Nexus is now running at the Main Event in Austin, Texas and the Gatlin Event in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Currently, Gel Blaster has more than 100 locations around the world offering traditional gaming experiences, with plans to expand Nexus technology to more than 50 locations by the end of the year.
