2014’s award-winning farming simulation game Stardew Valley is immortalized in LEGO form with an extensive recreation of the game’s Pelican Town map by Stardew Valley fan and LEGO connoisseur Steve Jensen. This week, Jensen showed off his massive creation at BrickCon, the Lego convention in Washington.
Jensen’s detailed recreation includes the town’s local Jojo Mart, LEGO versions of the game’s NPCs (and their respective houses), the overgrown community center that players see when they first start the game, and even the game’s iconic logo .
Jensen’s meticulously detailed recreation of the game won the People’s Choice Award at BrickCon, which Jensen said was a big surprise, but there was an even bigger surprise waiting for him at the convention: Stardew Valley creator, Art A visit from the director, composer, and developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone. Barone, who also lives in Washington, congratulated Johnson at the conference and took a group photo.
“Guess who was here this afternoon (before the awards)?” Jensen said in an Instagram post. “It’s okay if you don’t know him…me neither. Yes, I had a brief fan moment when ConcernedApe introduced himself!!! Naturally, I took him ‘backstage’ to get a closer look (. ..and this photo)!
Jensen co-owns Bricks & Minifigs Monroe, a Lego and figurine store in Monroe, Washington. His colleagues also celebrated his win on Instagram and hinted that his work may soon be displayed in stores.
Ten years after its initial release, Stardew Valley is enjoying a resurgence in popularity thanks to this year’s 1.6 update, which added a host of new features to the game.
